Not too long ago, there was an informational thread on original dash ones (-1s). Since dash ones (-1s) will soon be C&R eligible, more collectors will likely gain interest in the relatively common models (the rare models already have a following). I wonder how many models this forum can account for. This post by Lee Jarrett can serve as a checklist:

It is not TOO complicated-
All the interesting Dash-1's are 4 screw, EXCEPT the 29-1's which are mostly 3 screw with the ONE gun exception.
The scarce ones:
First, only the CARBON steel (Blue & Nickel) guns in K and N frame apply. Forget the Stainless guns, J frames, and L frames.
Second, forget the 10-1 the 13-1, and the 53-1, which means something else.
So, the interesting Models are:
11-1
12-1 (check)
14-1 (check)
15-1 (check)
16-1
17-1 (check)
18-1
19-1 (check)
20-1
21-1
22-1
23-1
24-1 (check)
25-1
26-1 (not the 1988 reintroduction)
27-1 (check)
28-1
29-1 (check)
48-1
Some of these variants have never been observed, and may not exist.

RKmesa, I was hoping you would post those beauties.

I wonder if our 19-1 Pintos were shipped on the same day (11/1/62). I know both of them were shipped to H. H. Harris Co. in Chicago, IL.

Jeremy:

I still have not gotten around to lettering it, or even asking Roy for a ship date... I've still been accumulating combat magnums, but I've fallen into the black money pit of the pre-war side of Smiths.

BTW - I'm loving every minute of it!

I refuse to be tempted by the dark side.

And the big news for California Smith shooters is that once they get C & R status, these handguns are exempt from CA's foolish "safe gun" requirements and can easily be brought into CA.

Thanks for the great pictures, guys! I suspect that the dash-one club has a fairly small membership. I'll keep my eyes open and hope to join it someday.

The -1 models as you listed are few and far between.Lee is correct about some may not even exist, 16-1, 24-1, 28-1, etc., However I wouldn't rule these out either. No one thought there was a 4 screw 29-1 until this one just showed up right here on the forum a few years back. S220004 shipped 12/13/1962

Chuck:

I always love to see that 29-1 and the cokes on it are particularly stunning!

Just the one -1 , a 27-1 5in. Ser.# S2214xx ,purchased from the nephew of the deceased uncle. It was left naked in a kitchen drawer for 10 years.
The family used to pull it out at thanksgiving and wave it around ,laughing at their uncles 'cowboy gun'.

It's a small treasure in my collection ,purchased for $400. Stocks number to the gun.

The -1s' are cool,no doubt, but we need to start a thread on the non model marked 4 screws, and see how many of those turn up

I've got one of those too,
a non-model marked 4 screw pre-model 15, shipped 1956. Came with original diamond magnas numbered to the gun and a S&W grip adaptor. I added the target stocks because they fit my hand better.

Sebago Son, I'll reply to your email here.

My email to you:

"Drew,

Do you remember this post?

Please respect it by removing your post from my thread.

I'll keep this private as long as we can act like adults. I not up for debating this, so I ask you to please just delete your post.

Sincerely,

Jeremy"

Your reply:

"I'm sure you are not interested in debating me in public, but I am just curious… why would you want me to delete my post if you are truly seeking more info about -1 Models?

Until you convince me, I'm afraid I must say no to your demand. Sorry.

As far acting as an adult, that's up to you…. I am not interested in any 'Private Understanding' with you of any nature, so by all means…. Be as "Public" as you can or want to be…..

Have a nice day."

My reply:

Honestly, your post adds nothing to this thread. There are no pictures, and all but three models you mention aren't even in my original post. Did you read my original post? I'm sure you posted just to stir the pot. That seems to be your obsession on this forum. I tried to be very cordial in private, but you just can't help yourself. When will you learn?

Calm down Jeremy.

I really couldn't care less about you or stirring a pot of yours....

I am only participating in the conversation and learning more about this topic.

I'll be ignoring your attempts to pick a fight with me from here on out. Addtionally, your e-mails will hereafter go unanswered.

Drew

Hmmm...I'm having deja vu. You are starting BS, and then you are acting like a victim. Everyone on this board for any amount of time has seen your game numerous times. When are the rest of your troops going to move in? Does this ring a bell?

P.S. I have a hard time seeing how a private email stating "please" more than once can be seen as picking a fight.

Goodnight.
