Hi, This was my Great Uncle's pre 29. It has been handed down to me from my dad. The serial # is s1540XX. I do have a letter from Roy Jinks that I sent for. But what I'm wondering is if the liner is original to the box. I know the box is, but I've never seen this color of liner. It is very old and has some small holes where the sights hit. Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

Thank you, that's what I was wondering. I don't have any idea why it was changed. My Great Uncle bought it for a collectors piece. He bought it new and fired a cylinder full of 44's and that's it. Unfortunately he is not around to ask why it was changed.

Correct liner

This is a picture of what you liner should look like.

Sorry about incorrect gun and missing top liner! This is a case I built a new liner for and I was sending a picture to the owner for a progress report! For the missing top I covered a piece of 1/2" foam with the same cloth as the bottom! The original liners were VERY CHEAPLY made and if used to store a gun they ended up with holes by the sights(front & rear) and sometimes by the grips at the bottom

love that 5", Chuck! I think I'll leave it as is for now and redo it later. I have no intention of getting rid of it yet.
