The good doc and I ran up because he needed "supplies" for his new .44 mag. Speedloaders, .44 mag and spl (boy is that limited in loading choices), a holster, different grips, you get the idea. I looked at a number of very nice Smiths. One of the nicest was Dick (Dimonback)'s 28 in like new condition. Being as we were there 5 minute I filed that for later. All sorts of interesting S&W revolvers but folks were mighty proud of them. $1K for pre-lock anything with many north of that. A very nice postwar M&P like new for $510 that He would "let go" for $475 OTD. Another very nice RB Model 34 4" Kit gun for $550. A 6"617 six shot with FG combats, like new $695. That guy was willing to deal. Khalid had the Ruger LCP .380 for 279+ Tax etc. Didn't see much else at "bargain rates on his tables (100 at least!) Ran ito Sal (Dtrina) and I knew I wasn't going to get a 27 today. So about lunch we're packing it up and this other doc and his wife stroll up. He had this neat gun he got off an old widder patient that he wanted to sell. I asked to look at it and he says he has to have $650. So I sez I can go $500. He sez no way he can go below $600. I sez "no box, nothing 'cept the gun with beat up grips, $550 and thats my final offer."
I may have paid too much but this 4" nickel 27-2 begged me to take her home. I do wish folks would save the boxes fer rice cakes! I hate to take a chance on a gun without Dick first looking at it but sometimes we have to man up. Earlier I was heartbroke when a "lookieloo" was handling a perfect 2 1/2" 19-3 that the dealer wanted $325 + tax. He was putting it down and I was restrained enough to watch him pull out his cash. Can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning (with my clothes on). Joe
