The Thursday doc said: "You are still very ill! Stop trying to prove you're not! Nothing strenuous, like getting off the couch." My good friend "the Doc" says let's go! So I get a fresh 02 tank hooked up and away we went. Got there around 10, very light crowd. Big room 1st, lots more room in the aisles. Like 12 feet. Get the Shoot Straight end over with 1st and yes, prices do go that high. $499 642's, $749 649's, and $899 640's. I'm after a CZ P07 at the moment but $599+tax and BC is way more than Academy's $499+ with a 10% discount up to $20. To save $125 I'll drive over to Kissimmee even if I hate it. Walking around the prices were all close, $25-$40 difference one dealer to the next. AR pattern rifles are the only "bargains" right now, ironic considering the current political climate. There are no longer "private sale" tables so hit the dozen or so 01 FFL's, compare prices on what you want and bite the bullet. Seriously, lotsa young folks milling about at their 1st gunshow so these prices seem normal at their "ground level." I did not see any must have S&W revolvers on any tables. Then again, I see the lock and I'm moving on.
A couple peculiarities:
I saw the FN 5-7 on 5 tables; high of $1399 to low of $999. Only difference was FDE on the $1399 gun, Black on the $999.
Since I have been on the hunt for a replacement for my 6906 I have wistfully considered SIG 229 and HK P2000's. The Sig is now $1400 so I can't possibly considering that for EDC; would break my heart to give it up should it be called to duty. On the other hand the HK 9mm compact was $879, which is where that particular model has been for quite awhile. When competing pistols from CZ, FN and the like were half HK's price, the HK was not so attractive. Now that they all play in the same league the view changes.
No chili-cheese-fries again. Just as well, no canopy over the eating area. Culvers is just down the road and way better/cheaper than the $24 fries and a drink.
Absolutely thrilled to be out almost normally on day 71 of the COVID fiasco. Lost a friend I've known 25 years last Friday to it. Only had to sit once and take 10 pulls on the 02. Doc says "Pretty soon you'll be back to the man you used to be." Thinking of the young me my mind said "Geez, I hope not."
