Rolled out with the doc to the O-Show, on a mission. Doc has a 10mm Witness that he bought a 6" barrel for. He wanted to cover the 2 1/2" with an AR type flash hider. Wow, some of the vendor "suggestions" were colorful and heavily weighted in bovine by-product. That part is always a hoot. He settled on a "pin on flash hider for a 10-22" which is the exact barrel dia and has a set screw to boot. $18/ mission accomplished. One guy had a pallet of "keypad safes" he got from a cruise ship co; $10 each so doc had to have 2. They were pretty nice.
As far as guns go, prices were reasonable, used glocks $350, Shields around $200. The Shoot Straight tables had the usual Stratospheric pricing but coincidentally, the wait for his 4473 chairs were packed. Business was so brisk Khaled was actually sitting down, almost smiling.
If'n AR pattern rifles are your thing they started at $350 complete and went up from there. At least 2 dozen vendors. They are also throwing Shield's (1.0's) at you because the 2.0 are displacing the older models.
I saw one stellar S&W revolver deal at the Beckwith table; a very nice 4" 629 ("old style thumbpiece", I'm guessing -2,-3,or-4) with incorrect grips for $550. I handled it and outside of the rubber grips it was hard to put back down. I hope somebody here got it, it was a way better deal than the 28-2 sitting next to it for $625.
I almost bought another Turk 12 ga pump for $150. Slick action, Benelli Nova knock off. I got 2 12 ga at the house that are unfired so I don't need 3. Gave my Hatsan (Turk) to my son a few years back, he loves it.
As time passes there are less quality "pre-82" S&W's on the tables, partly because the show has become somewhat "WalMartized." So much useless "non-gun" junk.
Even Robideaux (sp?) the old school engraver has been replaced by a "Box engraver" that I didn't stop long enough to get the info.
I did not notice signs "warning" against private sales and a few folks were toting guns with signs sticking out the barrels. Ain't seen that in awhile.
At least the chili-cheese-fries were the same even at $20 for 2 and 2 drinks. Be-autiful weather was worth the price of admission and I always enjoy Doc's history lessons about the "weapons and tactics of Caribbean revolutionaries." Last Gunshow show for 2019, man these years pass fast. Joe
