Tonight we headed over to the air division that housed 3 helicopters and one single engine airplane. The first hour or so of the class was given by a Motorcycle Patrol Sergeant that rides the same Harley I recently sold. He of course had lots more equipment on his! He is in traffic enforcement and traffic control and gave us insight on the many aspects of his job.

As he was finishing up his portion of this evenings presentation, a real call came in to deploy the helicopter. Apparently their task this evening was to look for a missing child. They were up in the air in minutes and returned about 40 minutes later. Tonights patrol did not prove to be a successful one but according to what they told us, their success rate is quite high. After they landed and returned to helicopter to the hangar they showed us some of the high tech equipment onboard such as the nigh vision and inferred camera equipment. There were many questions and I was pretty amazed at what they can do with the copter and it's equipment.

So far after 5 classes I am pretty thrilled with the class!! Looking forward to the next 7.

Twelve years ago I worked with an outfit training Army enlisted troops to fly a new drone that was essentially "point & click" computer controlled. It was amazing what those drone optics could see. I'm sure the quality has improved even more now.
