Our local enemy, the Arizona Bark Scorpion

Eh, pretty soon the whole country will be over run by invasive species. At least yours are from North America.

Florida with pythons (not the Colt kind)
Texas with zebra mussels
Georgia with kudzu.
The entire South with fire ants and feral hogs.

Georgia AND neighboring states are ate up with kudzu, the only thing that will eat it is goats.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

The envasive species which fascinates and scares me is -
The Asian Jumping Carp!

The Attack of the Jumping Asian Carp - Reel Shot TV - YouTube

In Mississippi we have several lakes in the Vicksburg area that are open to the Mississippi River
when it floods at a very high level, other wise they are safe from the river.
Asian Carp got into those lakes during flood stages. Fish & Game have stocked the lakes with
Alligator Gar (a native species) and the Asian Carp levels are falling and the native fish are recovering.

I stomped a Bark Scorpion barefoot one night as I was walking thru the hallway after a couple of Martini's. Did this before I thought about it and it's a good thing I have thick skin on my heels! This is one of the few Scorpions with a dangerous venom!

Dealing with scorpions is a way of life in Arizona. When I was just a toddler, my maternal grandfather taught me to shake out my shoes every morning before putting them on - a scorpion may take up residence overnight.

I have been stung by one - not a pleasant experience and it took a couple of weeks for the pain to go away.

Dogs, particularly puppies, have a problem with scorpions also. When our dog was a puppy and had not learned to be wary of such things, his encounter resulted in this. I'm pretty sure he learned his lesson - it has not happened again.

I have for years tried to talk friends into doing that on secluded sections of the river. But it is illegal to shoot from a boat under power. We could really put a hurt on the dam things and feed the turtles

I've never really understood why States limit anything which gets rid of invasive species.

Since we don't have scorpions, we have been blessed with these squatters. These 'fiddlers' I don't want to gig with:

Those are a problem around the Cincinnati area. I have some neighbors down the street who are infested with them. Scorpions aren't far away...either. I've caught them in my cabin which is only about three hours drive south. They aren't the dangerous ones, however, but it's still unnerving to be walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night and spotting one on the carpet.

Killed a Bark Scorpion yesterday. A few years ago, one zapped me between the index finger and thumb. LIT. ME. UP.

We have brown recluse, black widows, scorpions, Cottonmouths and Copperheads where I live. At least it's not Australia.
