Actually, that is a cub, but I don't remember how old the ranger said he was. The mother was gone, but he didn't know what had happened to her. The ranger would drive the bear away with marbles fired from his sling shot (how many people can say they shoot bears with marbles and a sling shot?), but the cub keeps coming back because the camp ground is an obvious place of food.
