What load do you use?

Maybe this is not the way what most shooters think. I am not sure what the average thug weighs but the average of the whit tailed deer I have shot is right around 175 pounds. I like complete penetration for my hunting loads, from any angle.

My edc revolver carries the same load my hunting revolver does.

Now, I have used it to harvest deer. But so far, thugs have avoided me.

What's wrong with something being on Youtube if it's seriously well done? 'Youtubeish' sounds like an unfair slight. Sure youtube has a lot of bullcrap, but I avoid it.

I stand by my comment; not at all an unfair slight. Lots of textbook gunfighting theory; I'm not a gunfighter. You said it all regarding YouTube. Hardly worth arguing.

What do you use for both?

My #1 load is a SAECO 453 (240 grain full wadcutter) over a hardball dose of powder, in my case Bullseye. Load #2 is a Lyman 452423 (240 grain Keith SWC) over the same dose of powder.

Yes, the 45 ACP or 45 Auto Rim, can anchor a deer nicely.

Is the concern about what’s beyond the target? Or the bullet passing through without depositing all its energy in the target?

Yes. Both.

I’m going to stick with .357 Federal Prem Pers Def Ammo 154 Grain HST JHP. I’m very happy w/DA placement and follow up. Generally, like today, I carry the 3” Korth Mongoose. Infrequently, rarely these days, both the 3” and the 4” Korths are on me. My last option is a 5th Gen. 9mm Glock 17 when I need the mounted light (Galco holster accommodates light). Pictured S&W’s are all for sale or sold. I’m done unless Korth puts it .357 8-Shot in a 3” or 4” Mongoose.
