Back in the 70s they were popular and I wore them once in a while. Some of the girls had form fitting designer overalls and they looked pretty darn sexy. The brand I wore I think were called Big Smith and some times in the summer I wore them with no shirt and some Vasque hiking boots.

I still see these being worn in the rural farm land areas. The old timers are keeping the spirit of the old way of dressing alive. But as we lose the farm land to new housing developments were losing this way of dressing. The old family farms are being swallowed up by developers. I moved out of the city about 40 years ago into a small town. There for 36 years and seen the mass transition taking place to get out of the city. Every extra lot and open space they built a house. It was time to move to a more rural area. But the trend seems to be following me. The building lot requirements are bigger here 1 1/2 acres. The old town was only 1/4 acre building lots. Time to check your local building lot size and change your town laws.

Well, reading this thread got me to thinking so today I went and ordered a pair of Liberty bib "overhauls." Will they make me a farmer outstanding in my field?

Haven't heard them called that in a loong time!
My uncle and grandfather called them overhauls and coverhauls, thanks for the memory.
Funny story: Knew a well driller who wore them exclusively, on Sunday, he would wear a white shirt and tie, with a suit coat to church.
He once packed a small carry on bag, and flew to Houston with the intent of buying a new well rig and driving it back home.
When he got to the dealership, he couldn't get anyone to talk to him for a while, finally a salesman came over, and sarcasticly asked what he wanted here, my friend told him he wanted to buy a drilling rig. (remember, my friend was dressed in overalls). Whereupon the next sarcastic question was something like"and just how does a fellow like you intend to pay for a drilling rig?"-----my friend held up the carry on bag he brought with him, and replied.
"Well, I've got $160,000.00 cash money in here, you think that'll do it?"
Needless to say, he got first class service from then on.

I have some kinfolks who are journeymen fire sprinkler fitters. They all wear overalls and they say it helps them be a lot more productive than just wearing jeans.

I have not worn a pair since they were a fad back when I was in high school.

That's all I wore when I worked as a plumber

I've tried them. They aren't real comfortable to me. They also look better with lace up work boots, and I prefer pull ons.

I guess it's what you get used to.

Wore them a lot but never bloused them (navy boot camp was enough of that ) Being a welder I always put the legs over the boots, less sparks and slag incursions.

Same for hunting, overalls always let then go over the boots.

Looks were secondary, function ruled my decision!
