Gonna dig out a couple CDs for the ride to work tomorrow.

I cranked up an Ozzy CD while I was running errands in Winchester VA this morning.
When my peripheral motor nerve condition started it was, "I don't wanna top" and "Crazy Train."
After Lisa passed, I couldn't and still can't listen to "See you on the other side" without my vision getting blurry.

I listened to the first album “Black Sabbath” on the ride home from work.

I'm glad he snuck in one last performance before he passed. I'm not a big Ozzy fan, but I did like some of his music. RIP, Ozzy. You made your make on the world.

My take as a musician; for what amounts as a three piece with a frontman they were incredibly tight and expressive.

They paved the way for many bands and created a genre.

Geezer Butler helped set me on the path to bassdom.

Today I heard the radio guy say those first 3 chords on the first album, the song of the same, were something of a cult or whatever's sound. I never heard of that, but I was never into the occult stuff.
I think tomorrow I may snort a line of ants in his honor, naked with just a hotel robe on. Geez, what a "pioneer".
Did Geezer start the drop tuning, or was that already a thing? Bloodrock had some pretty heavy 'stuff' back then, too.

I saw him once back in the mid 80s live in Indianapolis. I liked his music but some folks didn't I guess. Some people took his persona a bit too seriously I think. He was a true show man.

Sorry to see him go. I was a fan back in the 'Paranoid' days. I can't say I followed him a lot after that, but he was always present.

Yeah, you're right. Musically speaking, OZZY didn't create with Black Sabbath an entirely new genre of music nor did he influence generations of musicians. He never sold out stadiums, or go on world tours over the decades. He didn't even have an annual global touring multi-band music festival named after him. He never won Grammy's or any kind of award for his music nor did he have multiple gold or platinum albums solo or with Black Sabbath. He was a nobody.





RIP OZZY, you're part of the soundtrack of my youth.

I saw him in 1989, 1992, 1996, 1999 with Black Sabbath, Ozzfest 2003, '04 '05, '06, and '07, and the last time in 2018.

I had tickets, for the 1986 Ultimate Sin tour but my folks wouldn't let me go because I was too young. Metallica opened the show...Master of Puppets album.

I only saw Black Sabbath once, it was I think 1978, and Van Halen was the opening act. Quite a show! I think maybe what was his final recording, Gods of Rock and Roll with Billy Morrison and one of my all time favorite guitar slingers, Steve Stevens was a fitting cap on his career. Great song.
