So I was curious if the Nikon P-223 3-9x40 would hold zero on a .270 bolt action rifle. I'm sending my 700 back for the trigger recall and had to remove the cheap scope that it came with to ship it back. I didnt really like the Nikon scope on my M&P 15 OR and decided to go back to iron sights and later an Aimpoint or Eotech when I can afford one. Opinions would be much appreciated.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I've had very good luck with Nikon optics. Don't know how well the BDC will mate up, but thats what range days are for!

Yeah I like the scope just not on my AR. 100 yards would be my zero. Not to concerned about the BDC since 100 yards is about the max range at my deer lease

The scope will workjust fine for you. All Nikon scopes are built to tough. I have had a PROSTAFF scope on a .375 H&H with 60 rounds put through it in one day and zero scope issues.
Check out Nikon's Spot On Program to dial in your BDC scope, rifle and ammo. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the accuracy you get. I use one on my .300 Win. and love it.

Drop me a note if you have any question's. I know you are looking at the eotech but did you take a gander at Nikon's P-223 3X Carbine scope? I had one on my competition carbine until my son tried it and put it on his.
