P99AS Range Report

This is my Walther P99AS I purchased new a few years ago. I like it because it is lefty friendly, with an ambidextrous mag release lever. Also, even though it is striker fired, it has 2nd strike capability.
It has a very long take up, but after the 1st shot, a very short reset. Great trigger.
It comes with interchangeable grip panels, but I like it the way it came from the factory.
25 shots, PMC 115gr FMJ, indoor range, 25 ft. No FTF/FTE issues whatsoever.

Very nice. It's a real shame that Walther discontinued the P99AS, it was easily their most iconic pistol as far as modern polymer-framed, striker-fire pistols go. Is the PPQ a superior firearm? Absolutely, but not everyone buys every single gun in their collection because it's a cutting-edge fighting weapon, many guns are purchased because they're iconic, and I think that the P99AS could have stuck around and remained successful as such.

Oh well, at least they brought back the PPK(/S). Maybe someday they'll bring back the P99AS as well. Glock did it for the original Glock 17 Gen 1, so why not Walther for the P99AS?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if H&K would do a run of VP70s, then I would buy one. I don't care if it was the Hi-Point C9 of the 1970s, it was iconic and I want one.
