I'm trying to figure out if the CQB ACSS Reticle on the PA 2.5X Compact Scope will work with the A2 front site on the Sport. A couple possible issues I see are 1) the magnification isn't powerful enough to "see" past the A2 site without the site being a major distraction and 2) the lower 400, 500, and 600 yard markers will be ineffective because they will be blocked by the A2 site.

Thoughts?

I have the scope and love it. the battery life sucks, but other than that it is a good, solid scope that does what PA says.

I don't even notice my front sight but then I've never reached out past 300 yds. I'll take a look tomorrow and let you know back.

OK...checked. The bottom line is the front sight is not an issue with the BDC dots in the reticule. Now lrt me try to explain why in a manner that makes sense.

Once you have sighted in your rifle/scope at whatever distance you choose (50 yds is suggested by Primary Arms) using the top, <300 yard dot, your front sight is out of the equation. If you look thru the scope from a low perspective, say somewhere around the lower third of the glass, the front sight can cover the entire center of the sight picture vertically but it will not have any effect on point of impact if the red dot is on the target (something you couldn't know as the sight was in your way).

The opposite is true as well. If you look thru the upper half of the glass, you will be looking over the top of the sight but POI is not effected as long as the dot is on target.

Until your question I hadn't realized I was doing it, but when shooting thru my PA 2.5 I adjust my eye to be slightly above centerline of the scope so I am seeing the entire reticule just slightly above the top of the front sight. Remember, once sighted in using the <300 yd dot, the front sight is entirely out of the equation as far as aiming...the dot is all that matters...if the appropriate dot for the distance is on target your POI will be where you want it...right where the dot is regardless of front sight location in the sight picture.
