A few weeks ago, Senator Casey replied to an email basically saying he was completely on our side. He has since caved. here is his reply. Notice, he included a convenient link at the end to reply to him. i suggest all from PA let him know how they feel. I'm sure he won't like the very respectful and articulate reply that i sent.

In total, the perpetrator murdered 20 students between the ages of six and seven years old, as well as six adults, many of whom heroically sought to stop the shooter and save the lives of children. Like many Americans, I was deeply affected by the scope and brutality of this act. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

However, I believe that all public officials have a responsibility to work to prevent such an event from occurring again. This incident reflects a complex problem that requires a comprehensive strategy, including funding for law enforcement officers and the mental health care system. Too many individuals with mental illness are not receiving the services they need and tragically, sometimes a small number of these individuals turn violent. I have supported access to affordable and accessible mental health services for all Americans and I will continue to review proposed solutions to improve our mental health system. As lawmakers consider an appropriate response to this challenging issue, we should consider all of the factors that could prevent such heinous acts.

Pennsylvania has a fine hunting and sporting tradition, and I will defend the right to bear arms as it is enshrined in our Constitution. I will continue to back the right to bear arms for purposes of self-defense, recreation, sporting and collection. However, I also believe that the attack at Sandy Hook Elementary School highlights very serious dangers posed to public safety by the misuse of certain weapons and technology originally developed for warfare. According to reports, the shooter was able to kill many children and adults very quickly because he possessed a military-style semiautomatic weapon. He also allegedly used magazines containing up to 30 rounds of ammunition and carried hundreds of rounds more. After much reflection and careful study of the issue, I have decided to support a federal assault weapons ban as well as legislation restricting high capacity magazines. In light of what occurred at Sandy Hook, these are two measures that will lessen the chances that this will happen again. Before supporting such a law, I would first and foremost ensure that it did not unduly abridge the right to bear arms as established by the Second Amendment.

On January 17, 2012, President Obama unveiled a package of proposals to reduce gun violence, which included strengthening the system of background checks, reinstating the assault weapon and high-capacity magazines ban, improving school safety and expanding access to mental health services. I look forward to reviewing these proposals in detail and to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address this complex issue.

> On January 24, 2013, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California introduced S. 150, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013. This legislation would explicitly permit the possession of affected firearms that were owned prior to the bill’s enactment; firearms that are manually operated; firearms used by military, law enforcement and retired law enforcement; and antique weapons. Further, this legislation lists 2,258 hunting and sporting rifles and shotguns that are entirely exempt from the ban.

S. 150 would further ban semiautomatic pistols that can accept a detachable magazine and have at least one of certain listed military features, as well as ammunition magazines that can accept more than 10 rounds. The Assault Weapons Ban would also regulate the transfer and storage of permitted, grandfathered weapons and allow local law enforcement to use certain federal funds for voluntary gun buyback programs. The Assault Weapons Ban was referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, of which I am not a member. Please be assured that should this legislation come before the full Senate for consideration, I will have your views in mind.

I think we will see much more of that in the days ahead. Aside from a few good people many from the GOP will go where the votes are, and right now that place is with the democrats. Our state of Massachusetts is planning on going in the same direction of N.Y. We too could be looking at 7 round magazines restrictions in the not too distant future. The GOP has turned their backs on us when we needed them the most. I often wonder is there anyone left in Washington who will stand up for the people anymore. If there was ever a time in history when we needed a man of the people, it's right now.

Got that same letter. You beat me to posting it. I have tried to reply to him but it keeps failing. I will try his web site again this week.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't Casey a Democrat? You will probably not need all your fingers on one hand to count the Democrats that will not support Feinstein's bill. My prediction is that almost all Republicans will try to vote her bill down.

Awwww... And here I though he took the time to write me personally

I used the Ruger site to email all of my Reps at once and I got a letter stating that he would support the AWB. I replied to him stating that I would actively support and volunteer my time for whomever ran against him from his party or the other. I reminded him that he took an oath to uphold the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and "Shall not be infringed" didn't leave a anything open to interpretation. Then I got the very same "thanks for pissing in the wind" letter.

That was the same letter that I got from Sen Casey. His response was not unexpected, as he was never on our side anyway. Irregardless, whatever alleged pro 2nd Amendment supporter he said he was, which I never believed anyway, he is a weak willed politician, who dances to the standard Democrat party tune when told to do so. I still write him regularly on the 2nd Amendment issues. I know it's futile, but I still persist in the hope of him having a change of heart.

He will not change his mind because he is not a 2nd Amendment supporter. Just let him know that you will not vote for him because of his political position and that you will do whatever is in your hands to impede his reelection.

I got the exact same letter. I went to his facebook page and told him what I thought of him and that I would do all I could to see he never gets elected again.

Isnt that puke up for election in 2014? I hope you can get a real Republican to run against him. On another note you guys in the Philly area Corbin is on 106.9 in the morning talking gun controll.

Unfortunately, Sen. Casey was reelected in 2012, winning by a considerable margin. We have a separate country in our state called Philadelphia, who's priorities are often quite different from the rest of the state. They routinely drag otherwise inept democrats across the finish line, making the rest of the state suffer as a result. I see that V.P. Biden and Sen Casey will be there Monday to push their anti 2nd amendment agenda.

Governor of Maine made a statement during a pro gun rally on the 8th saying he would not sign any legislation for further gun restriction......phew...

Yea,they gave us Fast Eddie and Snarlin Arlin (RIP) but that aside we have our share of stinkers on this side of the state.

Hey now, Sen. Casey has been in trouble with his party before for his moderate PA stances on many topics (including guns historically).

In an interview he published shortly after Sandy Hook he said his wife convinced him to flipflop. Its my guess that he figures he has 6 years for us to forget the betrayal. Sadly, I am one of the ones who supported him BECAUSE of his track record and history. (I'll also not forget him stabbing me in the back on this one.)

I posted the email I sent him somewhere else on here, but in a nutshell I told him that I regretted my vote already, and would be watching his voting record. To be honest, I think he is hoping that it doesn't come to a vote so he won't be in the hot seat here at home. Of course, with his statement, the only way he'll get my vote is if it DOES come to a vote and he helps defeat it. Otherwise he's lost my trust.

Pennsylvania Residents should flood Bob Casey's office with calls and letters!

Below is a response I received from Bob Casey's office about his stance on the new AWB. I know Bob Casey doesn't have a good record on the 2nd amendment, but we need to make sure he knows where we stand on this.

Dear Mr. Roy:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about recent proposals related to guns. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue.

As you know, on December 14, 2012, an individual in Newtown, Connecticut forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School and opened fire on teachers and staff in the building. Spoken like a true politician. I read it twice and depending on your outlook it can be interpreted either way.

I know Bob Casey doesn't have a good record on the 2nd amendment, but we need to make sure he knows where we stand on this.

That's the problem though! Until this he was one of the good Pro-Gun Democrats. This flip on policy is a MAJOR stab in the back!

I've written Senator Casey several times and received the same canned response each time. In all his time on Capitol Hill, he has never authored a piece of legislation. He is a true YES man for the party. His stance on the Second Amendment reflects the typical once-a-year hunter view- why do you need anything you can't legally hunt with in PA? These "Sportsmen" are one of the single biggest threats to all of our Rights. They elected Senator Casey and they agree with bans and restrictions because it doesn't affect their .30-30 Winchester they fire once a year at beer camp- oops-deer camp.

Until those of us who truly understand the purpose of "The Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms Shall Not Be Infringed" can convince the sleeping masses of "Sportsmen" gun owners that the Government wants their guns too, politicians like Senator Casey will continue to be the norm!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these the same "Fudds" who are crying for a repeal of the Sunday hunting ban?

You would think that these people would understand our plight a bit more when you take that into consideration...
