Pachmayr Mag sleeves for Kahr MK9 on 3913

Check this out.
I bought a couple of these:

And sanded one down till it fit a 3904 magazine flush with a 3913.
Looks good but FEELS awesome!

YOu can see the one yet to be altered next to the fitted one. Very small amount needs to be removed from the top of the sleeve to fit in the pistol. They have a small set screw at the back to keep them in place.

Thanks brother. It makes it a very handy 9+1 pistol with either slide. If I can't find a 3904 (and I really can't) then this will have to be the ticket for now.
The mag pictured is an old 3904/909 mag that has windows up to eight rounds but I put the newer follower in them and they all hold 9 now. I have been using them with metal floorplates in my 39-2s, but they always looked a little wonky in those guns, sticking out just far enough to be noticeable. This is a finer purpose.

I think I DO in fact have a good set of files laying around here.
Next time I am watching old episodes of Longmire (The Story Of Iggy) I will checker the front strap of one of these and see how it feels. It's only nylon, so it won't take long. Should be done before Walt (Iggy) has his man.

Worked out well! Took a bit more tweaking than I thought it would but it fits pretty well. I’m also going to try to use this for an 8 rounder in my CS9.

LOL I use one of the uncommon steel base/flush fit 7rd magazines for concealed carry with my 3913NL with a "hicap" 8 round stock mag as backup.

All I did was grab the guts from newer 3906/3904/909 magazines (these are marked 9 rounds) and put them in my older 8-round 3904 mags. If utopia take the mags apart, both the new 3904 (9-round) and older 3904 (8-round) magazine bodies are identical with the exception of the witness hole for the 9th round. The spring and follower design changed slightly to accommodate the 9th round. Midway sells the followers and springs for these mags, and the only ones they seem to have are the "new" ones.

And BAM-BAM, no I did not do another 915 slide. In fact the only other one I have is sitting on my bench waiting for me to decide what to do with it. I want to cut it like the other one, and then send it off for melonite, but this expense is hard to justify. I have a 469 that it will eventually sit on. That is getting cut up also, but it's a story for another thread and another time.

I bailed on the 469/669/659 project. It was going to be a 659 slide on a 469 with a few 669 parts thrown in, but the feel of the 2nd gen double-stack compact in my hand just isnt right. This meant significant cutting of the grip frame, and then an expensive refinish. In the end I sold the parts on ebay, kept the frame for a “maybe” project down the road. Smith and Wesson really scored with the 6906! Got everything right.

Same for me..... as soon as the 6906 came out I got rid of my 469 with it's 2x4 grip!!!!!!! Never looked back!

Smith missed the boat in not continuing the 39s grip frame (with wood grips) on the 2nd Gen guns in my opinion......they should have built a single stack ASP/Scorpion/Trapper clone...... but at the time it was hard not to go for 12+1.

Sounds like a cool project.

I agree 6906 grip frame feels better than 469/669.

But don't give up yet!

6906 grip can be slightly modified to fit an unmodified 469/669 frame.

I did it with a 5906 grip on a 659 and the same techniques would apply.

I recently tried to grab some S&W 3913 mags from Midway (got 2!) for my new to me 3913NL but they sold out. Then I remembered this thread and Midway still had some S&W 3906 mags on closeout. SCORE! Now to locate some Pachmayer rubber mag sleeves for my new back-up mags! Thanks.

Tend to agree, except over the years I have heard others remark about deficiencies in the accuracy department with the early guns. It’s true, at least in my case. I obtained one early on and never did find a load that made it purr. (Federal 9BP was the best.) But my 3913s always outshot it by a considerable margin, especially with Federal Hyrda-shoks. I eventually acquired one of the newer ones (with black MIM hammer) and it turned out to be much better. Nothing much has come along in the last twenty years that renders a good 6906 obsolete, IMO.

I have a few alloy-framed&hammer-fired CZ's that are outstanding firearms. SP-01, P-01, RAMI. And a few SIG's too. But it's near impossible to find anything in a thin sub-compact DA/SA that compare's to the reliability, accuracy, durability or shoot-ability of S&W's venerable 3913's or CS9's.
