Out of the 1/2 dozen places I've ordered from lately, one says that it's been shipped, but shipping info doesn't bring up anything at all on the status. Another one says that they'll ship it soon, but that's all. (Everything I've ordered says that it's in stock) The other three I have NO word at all. I just placed the orders and have to scratch my head hoping to hear something from somebody, sometime. No email notifications at all. Do you think that we will revert back to brick and mortar local stores if this continues?

If it is being sent USPS, you'll get tracking info two days after it arrives.

for what its worth, sometimes a supplier will show an order as "shipped" as they created their shipping label. But when actually tracking the #, the carrier (UPS or Fedex) can just show the package as pending until it is actually scanned and out the door.
That doesn't help a company's poor customer service level of course if they never contact you or update the process.

I tend not to order online unless its from one of the stores i have physically nearby (Cabelas, Best Buy, etc) or thru Amazon where they fulfill the item being purchased. Otherwise i'm buying in store, i like to see and touch an item before buying.

I did have to ship a couple iphones back to ATT (after upgrading) recently, put both packages in the post office here in town (inside drop). One tracking # showed updates that afternoon. The other? about 3 days later.....

Yeah, I joined the neighborhood 'crime patrol' and have been making rounds. I have plenty of time to pop out for a while. They caught a dude a couple of weeks ago. There are neighborhoods around us that get it worse, but the police are starting to use 'bugged' packages as bait.

But this is the latest. It's New Year's Eve 12/31/18 after 6 pm:

It disappeared on the 29th and hasn't lit anywhere between here and Nashville.

And about buying the meal, the tracking info is RIGHT THERE and they have easy access to it and the means to distribute it. But now they decided to quit using it just to put on a show. Must have been more trouble to them than it was worth.

You don't say how your packages are being shipped, and if all of them are being shipped via the same carrier. Are they all coming from the same place? Are these details a secret?

What does that mean, "just placed the orders"? Five minutes ago? An hour ago? Sometime earlier today? No matter which shipping carrier you used, they all take time to get the info into their tracking systems. The time of day you place an order plays a big part in how quickly anyone updates their initial shipping information. Isn't your wife a letter carrier? She could probably give you some insight about stuff like this.
