I purchased some primers back in October 2008 for about $5 a box, recently decided I needed to restock and today got some but this time they cost me $7.50 a box.

$7.50 for 100 primers?

I'm still paying $29. per thousand (Winchester or CCI) from my local dealer (he's a "non-gouger" type).

I think it is time for you to shop somewhere else for primers. You did not say what brand or type but gee whiz that is quite a price to pay. Even the gun shops here only charge about $35 a thousand for small or large pistol primers. Bruce

Sorry I failed to mention, that was for a box of 1000 Rem small pistol. Even so, at the ridiculously low price I get them for, they are costing me 50% more. I guess that answeres my question, at $29/1000 for retail price, that even makes the $10 a box I paid retail price for many years ago seem like a bargin, and the $5 and $7.50 I recently paid must be a steal these days. I guess as I'll be stocking up next time I run across another batch even if I have to pay $10 a box.

$7.50 per 1000=37.50 for a case. Been quite awhile since I paid that. For that price I would max out my plastic card and get all I could.

A good deal on primers in the Denver area is $26.95/1000. Where in the world do you get them that cheap?

I just paid $29 for a brick of Remington SR, BR primers and thought I was doing a little better than average. Here they usually go for closer to $35 per 1000.

Primers were $25/1,000 this summer; they are now $30/1,000.

I'm glad I buy them by the case.

$7.50 per 1,000 primers? Not that I'm doubting you, but that price just doesn't sound right. It sounds too good to be true.

I've seen the local BassPro Shops break open a box of 1,000 primers and price each sleeve of 100 a few dollars higher... somewhere in $4 per sleeve range. That sounds a little more in-line with the pricing you mention.

I just paid $26 for 1,000 CCI small pistol primers yesterday and I can remember a few years ago when I was paying $18 per 1,000.

If the store is selling primers that low then they're either taking a HEFTY loss. Buy all you can!

That's what I paid for them at the last gun show
that I went to.

Wow, I wish I could find prices like that. I guess I really can't complain though. I'm still paying $21.50 for CCI and $18 for Wolf primers which is low compared to today's standards. I think it's way high but still better than the $30 or more most stores are charging.

Good luck even finding them on the shelves around here. When you do, the actual sales price bears no resemblance to the price on the box either. I learned from the "great primer shortage" of the early 90's. I keep plenty on hand at all times. It seems the industry has learned all the Exxon tricks this time.

Bought CCI primers from the local GS yesterday on the day off. $29 for small and $29.99 large per 1000. Figured I'd grab some while I can. Last gun show I picked up some Win at $24/1000 - I'll be lookin' for him again next month.

Regards,
