After seeing so many good looking rifles in the picture thread and being inspired by pmbspyder's paint job I decided to do it. Didn't have the guts to do the upper and lower on my first attempt but its more for bling and to make it uniquely mine than anything. Rustolium Camo Black, satin aluminum, oiled bronze, Krylon satin white and flat clear. A laundry bag net and a sponge. Was going for an Urban Snakeskin.

Not to bad for a first timer.

the two tone looks cool. i paint the majority of mine, but i never thought of using BOTH the laundry bag and the natural sponge. i have used both exclusively separate, but not together. may have to give that a try. here is my version of urban camo sponge on my main predator shotgun, Mossy 835 w/blackhawk stock:

then a DPMS using net only, with urban. Next i'll try your combo...now gotta buy a new gun!

Looks awesome man! Glad my thread gave you the boost you needed, loving the sponge and mesh bag technique!

How long does it take rattle can to set up?
Its dry but still feels a little tacky. I even put it in a cold oven, left the door open and brought it up to 160 for about an hr after I painted it.

i let them set for a full week before doing anything with them. if it's cold where you are, put them in a closet and forget them. if you're in AZ we let them hang in the garage. a full week ensures that the paint is solid. never had an issue with a long wait time, only with a short wait!

Looks great! Have you tried putting it in the environment to see how effective the camo is? Just curious.

Havent seen any urban snakes slithering around lately but as soon as it warms up Ill find one and do a side by side for comparison. :-)

Another thing, the ladder covers that started off FDE then dyed gray then painted, as they dried they took on a blue hue more so than right after painting. Dont know if something in the plastic is leaching out into the paint or what. But they dont match, not even close and everythig was painted at same time. Gonna ditch them and ordered some no name ones off ebay like the UTG sectionals that cover 3 slots and have a round profile just no UTG stamps on them. Gonna paint them this weekend and do enough to cover the entire rail, sides and bottom. Ill post pics next week after I get them done.
