Para Ordinance question

I own two of them. First Para-Ordnance was a Tac-Four LDA. 13-round mags were problematic, but once I straightened the feed lips and replaced the mag springs, they worked. Second was a CCW LDA and it was a nightmare. Went through 4 replacement guns that were worse than the original. Finally had to fix it myself to get it reliable. LDA action has a bunch of delicate parts and a very long reset. Best action for the 1911 platform is still single action.
Their factory night sights are crap, too.
I even had their 'bulletproof' PXT extractor break on me.
P-O uses the crappiest MIM parts I've ever seen with plating that often just peels off. This is my cracked thumb safety just before it broke off.

I don't recommend them to anyone.

I love the concept, but, like GMCHenry, I have had trouble with every one of them I have owned (3). I found them far too unreliable to ever carry, which seemed to defeat the purpose of the pistol. Not knocking them outright, but that was my experience with them.

The Warthog is a snazzed up version of the plain Jane 3" P 10. I bought a P10 NIB for about $399.00 last year. A very good price, but I had to replace the plastic trigger, plastic mag release and plastic mainspring housing unit. The gun has a trigger block safety - which makes for a poor trigger pull even after you work on it. I removed the issue safety parts & replaced them with non - functioning parts from Brownells. Replaced the rear sight, nothing wrong with it I just prefer the Novak type look on this gun. On an under $400.00 gun I don't mind, but if had to do all that on an $800.00 gun I be a bit PO'd.
I haven't had any function problems, mine runs fine. I just wish they didn't go cheap on the plastic parts. It gets alternate use (with full size mags) on my Mech Tech unit.

These short gun from Para are always broken and being sent back for repair.
Stay away from this gun no matter what it cost unless you just want to show it and never shoot it. They just don't run right no matter how many times they have gone back to Para for repair.

Bought a new LTC a few weeks back. Just under 50 rounds and the ejector is bent. The slide won't go back on after I field stripped because of the ejector.
One of the mags that came with the gun hangs up about mid-way down the tube.
Now, I get to pay to ship it in for repair. Since the lifetime warranty only applies to the original owner, it would be dumb to buy one used.
Once this gun is fixed and working, it will likely make it to the gun show and magically transform into a S&W revolver.

I bought a new P-10 back in 1997 and it sits in the safe due to it jamming (FTF) all the time!
I have tried different PO clips, and it still jams. This with 230 gr hardball. I love the concept of the gun (small 10 shot 45), but DANG! It would be nice if it actually WORKED!! Should I send this thing back to PO??

Para's. I have a full size Para SSP single stack.
It works perfectly. Para has a reputation for bad mags due to weak. I rebuilt my Para mags and also use standard 1911 mags.
Their compact pistols have a rep for hit and miss.
My shooting buddy has a double stack full size
Para that works well too.

I'm kind of wishing I'd bought the SSP instead. I've become convinced that 1911s that are less than 5" can not be reliable. I've had a 3-inch Springfield, a 4" Rock Island, and now the 4.25 Para LTC. All have given me stress.
My full size Kimber Gold Match II works p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y with whatever ammo it is fed. But, as my Dad pointed out, a $1,200 gun is different from the sub $700. Dad is usually right.

Unlike what the others have said here is my Para Warthog.
I must be one lucky SOB because I've had this for about three years and have never had a lick of problems with it. It feeds everything I've put through it and most of the loads are reloads. It's never jammed, it's accurate and hits POA nicely. I bought it new and paid $589 for it, now they're up over $700. I won't part with it.

I have one of each of the Para Warthog series and for a 3.00" barrel they have been flawless.
They hold 10+1 and have shot everything from HP's, FMJ ball to SWC's without a hitch.

Bought a P-14 10 years ago...junk. Pot metal hammers & triggers wouldn't hold an edge...never looked at another one since.
I've only owned one Para Ordinance. It was a 7.45 LDA, single stack.
It was the sweetest trigger I've ever squeezed, attached to the most expensive, overated POS I've ever owned.
A tack driving single shot, that began to disasemble itself in less than 500 rounds. I traded it at a loss.
One of the guys on my squad shot it, and fell in love. He bought the Warthog LDA. I was present at the first shot fired through it.
Shot one bulls eye on a B27 at 15 yards, shot two......shot two? Oh wait it's jammed, and the slide won't come back.
Oh the guide rod has pushed itself out through its cheap bushing and is protruding through the dustcover.....WITH A LIVE ROUND STILL IN THE TUBE!!!!
Long story short, he dumped it at a loss after literally one shot fired. Good luck! No more Paras for me. I wish Colt or even S&W would make a trigger like that LDA though. Sweeet. Regards 18DAI.

I must be one of the lucky ones....
This is my carry gun, it stovepiped a few times during the 500 rd. break-in, but has been flawless with absolutely everything I feed it since that. I wouldn't trust my life with it if I didn't have every confidence in it.

I've owned a P-12 .45 3" for 4yrs and NEVER had an issue of any sort. Always eats whatever I feed it, even light loaded SWC.
