I just heard it was tradition for all 93?? US Attys to be fired upon a new President taking power??

I just read an article about Preet Bahrara? SP? being fired instead of quitting. Anyone else know of this ""tradition"" of getting rid of these people?

Me too, but I always wondered whaat happened during an abrup politial change.

Clinton did the same thing back in the 90's. Fired em all at once. Not uncommon at all for them to be forced to resign, they are political positions. Usually it is done in a less dramatic fashion, but the end result is the same. Get your guys in there to advance your agenda. If you don't the other guys will undermine you. Both sides do it.

Tradition, and an order from Obama, are that they will submit a letter of resignation that may or may not be accepted by the new administration. Which is what Mr. Sessions asked for, but Mr. Bahrara refused.

I have heard some complain about the way the senior judiciary are appointed in the UK. However, in my experience they exercise and guard their independence with the ferocity of a mama bear with cubs. It appears that the similar posts in the US are largely political in nature.
