I bought a Ruger revolver at a gun show last week. At another show today I did not see much I liked. On my third pass through, I spied a 5926. I had passed a few years ago on a third gen 45 with the frame mounted decock lever. I sat down and looked on the forum about various posts on the 5926.

This example was in good shape but the slide finish looked funky. Moore like nickel than stainless steel. There were not any dots under the decock lever. The grips were not in great shape. I read that the standard 5906 grips did not fit. It came with only 1 S&W 14 round mag.

Another seller had factory 15 round mags for $ 20 each. I was thinking maybe I should have bought some of the mags anyway. And I know Mecgar sells 5906 mags reasonably.

Did I make a mistake or the right decision?

Price was negotiable at $ 525. I don't presently own a 9 that uses those magazines. I sold I believe 13 - 4506 mags to another forum member. Don't have a gun for those either but always looking to buy them. Wish I would have kept them.

The magazines are readily available and affordable so that's a plus. The price seems fair for a 3rd gen, especially for an uncommon model like that. Is the grip condition the biggest concern you have? Frame mounted decocker grips are definitely harder to find than the slide mounted variety, but at least they were present. I have the 4026 that unfortunately has not been to the range yet, so I can't give an opinion of that style decocker. I do like the concept and believe they would have been more popular if they had a longer run. I guess Sig didn't believe that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I think I would have tried to make the deal. You don't come across them very often. If it's still there tomorrow morning the seller will be more motivated to move his product.

Just my .02!

Todd
