Duty carry knives
I have trained with & carried edged weapons since the 70's & own a bunch of different knives; fixed blade, auto's, assisted, etc. Over the years I have carried a variety of knives when on duty, the last one's I used during the last 10 years or so of my career were these. When on tactical op's where I was "dressed for success" in full tactical gear, I carried a cold steel recon tanto & a Ka Bar TDI on my vest or on my web gear. If in a coat and tie the folder I carried was one of these.
The SOG trident, it is a assisted opener. I like the feature where you can lock the blade close and use the "slash" in the handle to cut webbing, seat belts, etc. It also has a "glass breaker" on the butt which came in handy several times, for several different applications.
The CRKT M-16 is the closest thing to a fixed blade knife I can carry in my pocket. You drag it out of the pocket and it is open when you get it clear of the pocket....no safties, no buttons, no thumb studs to manipulate under duress. Pull it out of the pocket and it is opened and locked. It is built like a tank and like the SOG has a partially serrated blade, which I really like.
A lot of great knives out there, a lot of them listed on this thread, here are two of my favorites. They served me well when I was working and they still do now that I am retired.
