Pawn shop 28-2

(expletive deleted) tlawler. A 28-2 with those stocks!!! You hit the jack pot. I'll trade ya for some nice correct diamond magnas. I don't know if the factory ever put cokes on a HP but somebody did.

Do hang onto those Pachmayr grips or sell them; vintage Pachmayrs fit a whole lot better and are finished much more nicely than the modern-day new versions made by Lyman.

As for options for wood grips and as far as Thailand grips go, I've been impressed with vitoonmakers on Ebay.
I agree about the pachmayr fitment, old vs new. The ones currently on are a great fit. Newer ones I have on other firearms not so.

IF the light surface rust bothers you, Frontier Big 45 metal cleaning pad and Kroil are your friends. They'll take care of your rust issues Pronto !

I did not know that the older Pach grips were desirable . My 28-2 came with nice Target stocks and older Pachs I resisted selling the Pachs.

Value

Great buys, around here they would be $900 to $1200 revolvers. Out of all the 5 screw highway Patrolmen I have the only one that came with target grips was my 6 inch.

I received a set of magna grips today that were purchased from a fellow forum member, very pleased with the transaction. I think the model 28 looks great in this configuration. Before and after pics below.

Looks good. I have Magnas on my 27 3 1/2 inch. Just seem to go together on that short one. I went to the hideaway safe in the house today to get my RBH 45 Colt. We had a big old wild dog in the yard chasing the chickens. Found a S&W I had forgotten was in there. My 27-2 5 inch. By the time I got back out the wolfie was going over the hill .He was a fairly big one maybe a couple hundred pounds. The fellow that runs cows here had a dead calf a week or two ago. After a day or so you can't really tell what killed it.
But the wolf is a likely suspect
. The mother cows are pretty mean and doubt a 200 pound calf would fall prey to a coyote.
I hope I can find a nice 28 shooter.

Years ago I bought a 6" M-28 9 (at a good price) because I couldn't find a 4". So anyone who finds a 4" is doing well.
