Anyone out there have a performance center 1911? How do you like it and have you had any issues?

I am thinking of buying a used one that I have my eye on.

RGPMIA,

Buy it! You will not feel sorry that you did.

Sincerely,
THE ROLLING STONE

Bought one. You were right. What an outstanding firearm. Its the tightest 1911 I ever shot/owned aside from a top of the line Les Baer. Aside from a very poorly fit trigger, the fit and finish of the gun was worth every penny. The trigger breaks crisp and cleanly at 3.5 lb and it shoots 1.5" groups at 25 yards off sand bags with 180 grain LSWCs from Laser Cast over 5 grains of Win 231 with an OAL of 1.250".

I always like to personalize my guns so I put a Wilson oversize magazine release and extended slide release on it and replaced the straight factory back strap/mag well with an arched S&A beveled magazine well. I prefer the arched over the straight. I had a spare Wilson combat ultralight match trigger laying around so I fit that too to fix the sloppy factory trigger.

Pics attached.

I also bought a PC1911 recently and was shocked to find out how loosely the trigger is fitted. I mean, this is a hand-fitted pistol by some of the finest gunsmiths in the country. The trigger breaks crisp and all but it just has alot of play. How difficult it is to "fix" the play in the trigger?

Buy it. S&W got it right with their PC 1911. It is a top of the line 1911 and I would put it up against any 1911 for quality, fit and finish.

FWIW: The triggers on both of my S&W 1911 guns are tight. As my daddy would say, "There is no slop." There are no rattles, no lose fitting pieces and that cannot be said for my custom guns.

Its not difficult at all if you are comfortable with taking your gun apart completely to get the factory trigger out. You then need to get a suitable oversize aftermarket trigger (like a Wilson Combat ultra light match trigger from Midway or Brownells - about $35) and then stone the top and bottom of the replacement to fit the frame properly. You do not modify the frame, only the trigger.

PM me if you have questions.
