I have been looking at this model. It's modern looking and I've been "resisting." :D

Those of you who own or have experience with it, tell me what you think. I am not so interested in the factory-supplied optic. It looks a bit on the cheesey side. What I am looking for is your impressions on the quality of the barrel (very important to me), the locking mechanism, and the muzzle brake. Also interested in anything else out of the ordinary that caught your attention.

Is this gun made on a round-butt frame? I hope not.

Thanks in advance for any information.

If you can get past the round butt frame you'll really like this model. I have two and they shoot like a lazer. There's enough barrel, along with the brake to absorb the recoil but not so much that would make it muzzle heavy. The barrel is actually a 3 piece with the brake serving as a nut to hold it all together and rifling done at the Thompson Center. The IL is a non-issue.
Another forum member and friend, sw282 has over 13000 rounds through his without a hiccup. Also, don't totally discount the "cheezy" red dot. It's not an Aimpoint but actually does a good job. Go ahead and buy yourself a Christmas present, you know you want to! :D

Thanks. Does the barrel (and brake) do OK with lead bullets?

Yessir. That's all I shoot through mine. After a good range session I end up with little lead boogers in the brake but you can either blast them out with a stout jacketed magnum load or you can just pick your boogers  when you clean it.
