PC round for a 696 no dash & rational please

Anyone try different types of ammo for a 696 no dash for personal carry? Rational always appreciated

I like the 180gr. XTP for carry. Of course there's also the 250gr SWC Skeeter load.

I sold a 696-0 and a 696-1 a couple years ago because I didn,t think it would hold up to the Skeeter load 250 Keith/7.5 grs Unique. The forcing cone is pretty marginal. And my 629-4 would do it all for my size 12 hand. Plus the 696 were worth to much money . Can you say bye bye??

I carried Winchester Silvertips for years, although I tried the Federal 200 Grn LSWCHPs too. The stats I read showed the Blazer 200 Grn aluminum cased stuff was a bit hotter, but I don't like them for SD. Then I discovered Speer makes the exact same load in metal cases. Since then that is my preferred load.

Blazer 200 gr. GDHP. Or, as noted above, the Speer version is the same thing in a brass case, but quite a bit more expensive. The Cor-Bon rounds are also OK.
