Georgia peaches are my favorite fruit.
Last year there were no Georgia peaches.
This year there seems to be a good crop.
My farm was leased to one of the largest peach growers in the US.
That lease ran out last year. Thankfully, the grower immediately renewed the
lease for another 10 years, plus five option years. They pushed up the old trees
two years ago, and replanted this winter. There probably won’t be any peaches on
the farm next year, but there should be plenty in 2020. We retain “grazing rights,” of course.

The peaches pictured are from a farm about 12-15 miles from our house. They are an old
variety, “O’Henry,”. And are very sweet and tasty.

I love my peaches.

Peaches are nice..........
unless they are from the neighbors tree and falling into your yard
to rot on the ground and bring in bees and ants and other pest
to cause you problems.

There is a good thing about having Peaches and also a few draw backs.

Last year our 3 year old tree yielded about 200 peaches, this year we got maybe 15. We had very few bees and high winds knocked off most of the blossoms. Same with my Apple tree; it only has 4 apples on it. Frustrating..

Yeah, my wife drove down south of Perry last week to get 2 crates of them. . .a 160 mile round trip. They had just put them out and she got the last crates. Grandson had to guard them because people will steal them and run. Another truck was coming in from the fields, but that would have been an hour wait (or more). I am about peached out right now. She freezes them, and they are good for two years or more.

My wife has a friend who has a friend that is bringing up some cases of peaches from Colorado.. She has her name on a case of them.
Never had anything but canned peaches until I got into college.

Good times for a while here in old Wyoming.

Here in Vermont the best peaches we get are from Pennsylvania. Maybe the good Georgia peaches don't make it this far north, so I can't compare, but the Pennsylvania peaches are really good. I Have learned the trick to picking good peaches in a store - each peach must feel heavy for its size. You get a feel for what that is after a while, but once you get that feel, you'll almost never buy a bad peach again.

I could just smell.....

I don't have to eat it. It's enough just to SMELL peaches that are ready for eating.

....I grow old ... I grow old ...
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each....
