Perfect AR15

After countless rounds through the AR1522, I just picked up the M&P Ar15 and am very excited for it.

I have the 22 dialed in with all the gadgets, what are you recommendations for the "perfect Ar15"

I dont believe in such thing as a perfect AR15. Like anything else mechanical they are probable to failure. I also dont believe there is such thing as 2 shooters who are exactly alike. What works for one shooter will not always work for the other shooter. As humans we all differ from one another.

What a shooter should do is take an AR and build what he/she believes is the perfect AR for them.

You must first decide in what direction you want to take your new rifle. If you want it to be built for accuracy, speed, long range, close quarters, etc.

Only then can you begin your journey and narrow your build.

It's kinda cliche, but perfect is very relative to every person.

Keep it light and simple and you will enjoy the rifle to it's max potential. My "loaded" AR's tend to sit in the safe while the light ones get shot.

The extent of your imagination, times the amount of weight you can lift, times the number of available accessories, divided by the depth of your pockets.

Your "build" must be, or at least should be, purpose driven. How will you use your rifle. You can spend a lot and build your "drream machine", or you can K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid), and set yourself up with a rifle that you can shoot, enjoy, AND depend on. It's up to you. think it through.

I have 2 AR's

I have purchased just about everthing at one time or another...now most of the stuff sits

Both have an AFG on em... 1 has a 6-24 scope for REACHING out and touching something... the Other has my EoTech on it for up close fun

THATS IT....

Both have a specific purpose and both are very functional....


Shoot the gun a few times and decide what direction you want to go......

I have found that the Vtac II is an excellent rifle, in my opinion this rifle is a great compromise and also a great value.

Nothing. Its fine as is.

What do YOU NEED on it? Is it a CQB rifle? Red dot and maybe a flashlight.

Long range? Well a longer barrel helps. 1/7 twist usually helps too. Obviously a descent scope. Bipod...eh.

It really doesn't need anything. People have gotten used to thinking that this weapon comes completely naked on purpose, for you to add everything onto it. Like a blank canvas. Thats really not the case. As long as you have sights you have a fully functional and fully capable rifle right out of the box. Anything else that you add should have a purpose outside of 'cool'.

I have a old Colt. I replaced the grip BECAUSE my hands are too large for the original thin grip that came with it. I replaced the stock BECAUSE it gives me a better cheekweld. The original was just small and thin. DONE. I do want to out a aimpoint on it for quicker target acquisition but thats it. I dont do 800 yard shots with it. I only go to 300 so no need for a scope or bipod or a railed handguard. IF I were to use it as a TEOTWAWKI rifle there is still not enough open space for me to take long range shots.

Why add stuff for the sake of adding stuff?
