just wondering the wait times right now, we had our local gun store order a shield from S&W a couple of months ago and it hasn't come in yet
Performance 9mm shield wait time?

I did a search on line at Buds and Gallery of Guns it took two minutes. They both have them in stock. You need a new gun shop if you are waiting two months. I found out a long time ago cut out the middle man and do your own searches then when they don't produce go some place else. I work for my money and if you want some of it you have to work for it to.

Never really looked at a Performance model, so I'm not sure about the pricing of them, but SOS has em in stock for $449.99 before rebate, shipped, no tax outside of Ohio.
This model has night sights.

even Cabelas showed them either in stock (in a couple random stores) or with a 5-8 day lead time. So i'd have to say as noted above, its availability just boils down to the location being shopped.
Side note: I love my PC Shield, but sure wouldn't have waited a couple months + for it. I tend to want things "now" and with a wait time like the OP listed I would probably look elsewhere. Unless I had some ties to the store in question.....

Why wait for months when you can order it now and have it next week? $294.99 after rebate.

I like to support local businesses too, but a lot of times they just can't compete with big online stores, both in availability and price.
Besides, the rebates end at the end of June. If you wait too long you may miss it.
I've had a local gun shop that I've dealt with for years. Three or four years ago, during the Obama years I was trying to buy a S&W M&P 40 compact with laser grips. I talked to the gun shop owner several times over several months trying to have him get me one. He simply couldn't. Even though it was a crazy time, other online stores had them in stock.
The shop owner explained to me how S&W (and most other suppliers) favor the big stores because they can sell large quantities of an item instead of just 2 or 3 that a small shop will usually order. It's not fair, but it's how business is done. Try as he did, he just could not get one in stock.
That's when I talked to him and decided to do something that benefited both of us. I ordered the gun from one of the big stores at a much cheaper price, had it sent to the gun shop, and he did the FFL transfer. That way I got my gun much sooner than if I had waited, and at also a cheaper price, and the shop owner made a profit from handling the FFL fee. Everybody was happy.
I got my gun, the shop owner made a profit, and we were able to maintain a good relationship for future purchases.
Also since where you buy the gun makes no difference to the warranty (they all go back to S&W if the need arises), you lose nothing by choosing to buy from the big store.
That's why when I decide to buy a new gun, if I can't find it in stock locally, I don't hesitate to order it from a reputable online store.
