Performance Center DNA

A few years ago, I swapped a new Glock 22 even trade for a used S&W 4006 advertised on the internet. It was the front slide serrations that caught my eye as I had only seen this feature on PC models. I got several more pleasant surprises when I received the 4006. It had hand cut checkering on the front strap and the slide was cut and drilled for the decock only modification but one was not installed. The one magazine had the competition butt plate installed and the barrel feed ramp was polished. All of this came in a like new PC blue plastic case but no label. The trigger was forged and flash chromed, but the hammer was black MIM with a spur. So, I call this one my 3rd Gen 4006 with Performance Center DNA. I could not get any verification of the features from S&W, so I sold the PC plastic case and bought a forged flash chromed spurless hammer to replace the MIM spurred hammer and the decock only assembly. The hammer swap out was perfect as the sear was a forged #4 and the decock only assembly dropped in without a hitch. The decock timing was perfect also. I have used it three times for annual in-service qualification without a hickup. Just a typical 3rd Gen--reliable, durable and beautiful with PC DNA. I attached a photo of it and my PC DPA 5906 so you can see its heritage.


PS. I switched out the Original MIM hammer, sear and trigger on the PC DPA 5906 for the flash chromed forged spurless hammer, sear and wide trigger. The forged action is as smooth as the MIM was, but there was nothing wrong with the MIM. I just like the wide trigger and the flash chrome.

I haven’t got that 945, but I still have the 945 mag you sent me for when I FINALLY get one.

You could very well have one of the rare 4006 IDPA pre-production models from the Performance Center... it's my understanding that only 12 were produced, 4 were shipped to Lew Horton to drum up interest in marketing them, but it did not happen. The .40 S&W was not a popular round for IDPA, so the concept was a dud.

Does the serial number have a PCZ prefix?

If so, it is a sibling to mine, which is one of the four that was shipped to Lew Horton.

Also does yours have these gaps on either side of the grips?

Those are for a Performance Center mag well, I lucked out and located one and installed it.... that is the reason for the extended mag base pad/plate your magazine has.

No PCZ prefix and no cutouts on the grip. The Alaska DPS 4006 is closest model I could find to it with the only difference being the hand cut checkering on the front strap of mine and the machine cut checkering on the Alaska DPS. Both have the Novak factory Night Sights. I have attached two photos of the Alaska DPS I found years ago on this forum. The Alaska DPS Spec Ord # is 8143 and the Procuct Code is 148143.
