I have both 5" models, both manufactured in the spring of 2015. The 9mm has a blue recoil spring and the .40 has a yellow. I unerstand a few years ago both full size models had blue springs and now the latest model .40's have green springs and the yellow spring has always belonged to the compact models.

So, where has the yellow spring come from in the 5" .40?

The .40 runs like a top (no red dot) but the 9 (Burris FF 3) has horrible feeding and ejecting issues. I run Freedom Munitions new and reloaded ammunition. Ball and hollow points.

I'm at a loss here as I've never had any issues with any of my M&P's.

Thanks,
B

I have the M&P CORE in 40 and bought a KKM 9mm barrel for it . The 9mm barrel is very accurate. You can sell the 9 and buy a barrel for the 40.

S&W will swear up and down that the colors are meaningless (as to spring rate) and used to identify vendor source only... Your "Yellow" looks green to me, the yellow is actually kind of a bright yellow. Anyway, maybe your green is a bit soft. You can get replacements rather cheaply from Speed Shooters Specialties or G&R Tactical to rule out a weak spring.
