I was there in 1960 when I was 15. It was a special trip for Explorer Scouts after the Ranch closed for the summer season. Great times.

I went as the adult for my son's troop in '07 when I was 48. Never made it there as a scout. It was awesome!

I went as a scout in the mid 1960's & with my son in
2002.Two of the most memorable experiences of my life.
I would recommend it to anyone.Get in shape though-
it ain't easy.

I went as a scout, with my brother, in 1967 . . . a truly awesome and unforgettable experience.

I went in the late 80's and was a Ranger in '93. Love it! Hopefully, I'll go with my two boys when they're older.

I have never been to Philmont. My wife's father was a very active Boy Scout Leader in Madison, WI for many years so I asked her if she had ever been there or if he had. She started singing the Philmont song and ended up by saying she had not but he had - twice. Anybody remember a big guy named Reggie Kilps?

Went in '72. 723K3. Took the Fish Camp loop. Met my troop from Nashville since I had just moved back to TX that summer.

I think it was '64 or '65 when I was there. There is no question Scouting made a major impact on my life. I can't help but think how Scouts would make life changes for some of the baggy pants kids I see now.

Been to Philmont as adult advisor twice, 1996 and 2002. Absolutely wonderful experience. First trek was in the north, and included going into the Valle Vidal of the Kit Carson National Forest. Second trek was in center of Philmont. All beautiful country.

Adults should lose weight, get in shape, and lose more weight. 11 days of backpacking and sleeping on the ground for 10 consecutive nights is fairly demanding.

We spent a lot of time preparing our groups of Scouts. We talked about a lot of things, got together for training hikes, and spent some weekends camping. The goals of the advisors were to have the Scouts ready to take charge once we got to Philmont, and the adults wanted to be able to step back, let the groups be lead by the crewleader picked by the Scouts, offer advice when asked, and we planned to intervene only if health and/or safety were involved. We were successful in meeting our goals.

A Philmont trek is demanding, but provides a great opportunity for 14-17 year old Scouts to earn some self-esteem that lasts a lifetime.

Came off the trail on July 20th, 1969. I was 14. That night some of the staff let us into their quarters so we could watch the moon landing. Was a great experience!

I went with my son in 2002. Best time I ever had. The place is absolutely beautiful and there is no graffiti or trash anywhere. You do need to be in good condition for it. We made 66 miles in 11 days with 50# backpacks. I loved everything about it.
