A couple years ago at a gun show one mile from my house I saw this 1973 14-3 .38 for $800. I got sidetracked then went back over and my friend already had the price down to $750 but bought a circa 1950 pre Model 10 instead. So I bought it. What a fun gun to leisurely shoot. i”m not a great shot but this gun shoots really good. the Presentation grips came on it and are back on it now.

Nice gun! I have a M14, 8/38 also but with regular target grips. Those Presentation Grips are worth hundreds of dollars without the gun.
Especially with that nice grain on them. Your group looks like four in a hole and two real close, Good shooting! I bought a bunch of that Norma 158 fantastic price on sale ammo from one of the major online sellers with free shipping and I have been pleased with the result but my groups are not as tight as that one in your picture.

Very nice Model 14-3 and I really like the factory presentation grips too. Congratulations on finding that nice long barrel gun. Very tight group you shot. Your gun looks like it has the target trigger and target hammer also. Good score.

I never get tired of my long barrel guns. They are a pleasure to shoot. Here is one of my Model 14-3’s with the 8 3/8” barrel.

The longer the sight radius, the more easy it is to see sight misalignment, which can lead to more precise shooting. Well done!

My 14-3 is a shortie (6") It is accurate. I can only imagine what the added sight radius would do. Did have a 10-6 PPC gun with an 8&3/8" barrel. But with that barrel and was quite heavy. Bob

I had one just like it in the 80's. With my young eyes it would shoot like that at 25 yards with wadcutters. Alas, it is gone. I gave up on the 8" guns when I quit hauling around one of those Pachmayr Pistol Boxes. The box got too heavy. The guns were too long for conventional range bags. I traded them off for 6" guns. At the time most of my guns were 6" anyway.

When I picked it up for the first time I thought it might be a little unwieldy with that long barrel but not so. The older I get the more I like, or my eyes like, the longer barrels. My 6 1/2” Model 24-3 .44 Special is very accurate but I struggle with my 4 incher. my 1962 18-2 I shot the other day along with the 14-3 did pretty well though a 4” barrel, of course.
