I scheduled a day off for a date with my wife earlier this week. We decided to go hiking in one of the most beautiful areas of the Arkansas Ozarks . . . Boxley Valley in Newton County, at the head waters of the Buffalo National River. We had a super time and wanted to share some of the photos from the day outing.
I'll mention that I was using a Nikon 5300 DSLR with a Tamron 150-600mm lens. Although we were very fortunate to see so much wildlife on this hike, we were using telephoto lenses that may make some of the animals appear closer than they actually were. In many cases we had to slink through the brush to get some of the shots, and on a few occasions I had to belly crawl through fields of knee high grass. All in all it was a great adventure.

I had to work to get the next couple of pictures. It was almost as though the herd had sentries posted on the perimeter to watch for intruders. I was hunkered down on a small knoll about a hundred yards out behind a stand of small cedar trees.
Stretching out after a nap
