Walkabout (Wildlife Photos)

Glad you found the great horned owl, he's a great picture! It appears he's looking back at you from a ponderosa pine tree. Is that a hawk in picture #3? The bluebird is marvelous, and the duo of eagles is amazing. However, the geese may be stolen for one of my screen savers-(with permission?)-I think it's wonderful showing the different stages of flight. Looks like the goose in the top middle is calling the plays. Which is your favorite?

May I ask where in the Ozarks that you found all this wonderful wildlife? Is this near the MO border?

Great work, thanks for showing.

Picture #3 is a red tailed hawk.

You can certainly use the geese picture as a screen saver. :) It was early in the morning while we were hiking in that we came across the geese. We could hear them honking while they were feeding on a large pond and we decided to slip up on them for a few pictures. We didn't get as close as we would have liked when they decided to take flight but it probably worked out best as we were able to get several shots of them flying off.

For me, I like the picture of the pair of eagles. Not so much because I think it's the best picture, but because it was the most challenging to get. Eagles are not necessarily rare in this area, but they are not nearly as plentiful as they are in northwest Arkansas where hundreds seem to spend the winter there. I was not expecting to see any eagles on this outing yet we had the rare opportunity to watch this pair for a good while.

We were actually in the southern Ozarks for this outing, in Van Buren County.

Faulkner. Are you INTENTIONALLY trying to make us envious of the splendor you see everyday....or is it just working out that way naturally? :)
