This site requires we use Photobucket for in thread posting of photos. However, the last few weeks Photobucket has become so full of ads, nagware and popups it is virtually unusable. In fact, I can't use it in Firefox and have to revert to Internet Explorer and even then it is VERY difficult to use. Is anyone else having the same problems?

I would like to see the owners of this site explore an alternate site for photo access. Rant over...

I belong to another forum that does require photobucket. It is awful to use. Slow, ads to the point of nausea and now constant emails.

In the last two months, it has gotten out of control. Please let us know if you find a better alternative - It looks like it is time to dump the bucket!

Same problem with photobucket. I've used it for years and this just started. They are essentially making your life miserable until you pay their ransom. I am now just waiting for an alternative site but eventually that site will do the same thing in the name of unending greed.

Guys: Look into "Photo Gallery". It is a Nikon sponsored program, but works with all digital cameras. After using Photo Bucket to the point of total aversion to it, my wife and I tried "Photo Gallery" because it came with a new Nikon we purchased. We were amazed at the versatility and ease of use. I closed out our Photo Bucket account and haven't looked back.

I didn't find a site for "Photo gallery". Is it perhaps nikonimages.com

I just use the "manage attachments" feature . . .

Please just use this. It limits you to five per post, and one does have to click on the thumbnails to enlarge the pictures for viewing, but the photos don't clutter up the actual text, replies with quote are a lot tidier, and most importantly, future access to your photos by people using the forum for research doesn't depend on the whim of the hosting site's future accessibility.

If you go a few years back in the forum, the majority of threads with photos are littered with the cursed Photobucket logo where the photo should be because the album is no longer available.

I caved to the 9.99 per year fee, and all the ad's stopped immediately. I do now however get a single daily email ad, which I flagged as junk mail aind it just dumps it.

That must be it, the Pro version. I use Photobucket a lot. So much in fact that I ran out of bandwidth on the free version. So I upgraded to the Pro version.

I get zero ads and it's really easy to use.

I would be interested in whatever Big Cholla is talking about. Got an actual link? Photo Gallery doesn't exist.

Just for the record, attaching a tiny thumbnail that I have to click to enlarge big enough to see is not conducive to ease of reading.

In theory that sounds good. And I have used the "attachment" method in the past and will continue to do so. But, thumbnail issues aside, that now make this forum a photo hosting site, with all the incumbent issues associated with that. If large numbers of photos were uploaded and had to be maintained by the Forum, memory (storage) requirements could increase and that means increased expense.

It also means the images will actually be available in a few years, unlike all the "IMAGE NOT FOUND" empty pics you see in posts a few years old.

Gigabyte storage is cheap, these days. Here's a 2 terabyte drive on Amazon, $70 bucks, shipped. What's that--two thousand gigs?

That only happens if the originator moves them from the original location. It will happen regardless of where they are stored if they are moved.

Thumbnails are fine unless you want to use the pictures in conjunction with the text. Trying to make an informative post like this wouldn't work with thumbnails: http://smith-wessonforum.com/concealed-carry-self-defense/407850-different-kinds-loads-reloads.html

Looking For It

I will find a link or I will just send you the program disc. .........
