How in the world did you install the USB? I stripped 2 Allen keys trying to get the little screw out. Was it locktighted in place?

For those who don't know, the striker block is under the plate where the optic is mounted. It is secured by a second plate. I for the life of me can't get the screw out of the second plate. I too have grittyness stemming from the striker block and want to polish/deburr it and the cavity in which it resides.

So the rear sight does not have to be removed like a regular M&P to install the USB ?

The rear sight DOES NOT need to be removed. The USB is located under the optic slot, it's a silver tear drop with one allen.

I have the apex trigger and I love it, my trijicon is adjustable so yes.

From the last few pictures it does not look like the RMR co-witnesses. Can you use the iron sights with the RMR installed ?

Yes you can, they are there but don't have much clearance, I'll get a better photo for you

Apex USB ? What size torx or allen does it take to remove the screw so You can get to the Striker blocking saftey ?

yes the Apex USB is located under the optic mount. It has one allen and I don't know the size, you'll just have to see which fits better. It's super easy to do.....

The Allen screw under the optic mount takes a .050" hex key. FYI- I threw away my money on an Apex competition spring set for a 9mm CORE purchased in July 2015. The spring was the wrong size for a CORE model.

Nice Pics! Why is the Pro C.O.R.E. Not More Popular?

I just bought my second ever gun, an M&P 9mm Pro C.O.R.E. with the 4.25" barrel. After test firing it several times, I really like this pistol, but my wonky eyesight made me quickly move to a red dot sight, which is why the C.O.R.E. appealed to me in the first place.

Earlier, I had considered the Shield, but it didn't compel me in the same way. I compared it to the XDs and a Glock 26, and to me there was no clear winner. The Pro C.O.R.E. changed all that.

So why is the Shield so much more popular? With the relative cost of optical sights coming down, and the built-in capability of the C.O.R.E. to accept them, I would think the balance might be more 50-50. What gives?

sure love that gun,i would like to find an optic ready slide for my 9 & 40 m&p,but i live in Ca, and was lucky enough to buy these befor they fell off the approved gun list.
