Phyllis McGuire, the last of the McGuire sisters passed. When I read it in the paper it brought back a memory of my late Dad. Dad was in the automobile business for 40 years in Virginia. When he retired in 1992 he and my step mom fulfilled their dream of retiring to Las Vegas. They lived there for 20 years.
Dad never stopped working and got a job with a security company in Vegas. One of his posts for several years was the entrance guard gate at a high end community near the strip. On a visit he took me by where he worked and pointed out Phyllis McGuire's mansion. He said she was a really nice person and she always stopped and spoke with him when entering through the gate. Dad was a WWII and Korean War vet so he listened to them during their heyday. He was proud of the fact that he knew her on a first name basis. He was a gentleman all the way. He would have been 94 this year.
