When I first moved to Tennessee my first gun show purchase was a beaut of a 4" 586- in factory nickel, shoots SO beautiful but it's just too pretty to carry and be "rough" with IMO. So I have been looking for a 4" 686 since. Last week I happened to cross paths with this one. :D I'm all smiles, haven't shot it yet but boy what a beautiful trigger. Has the M stamp.

Here's the 586 that got me wanting a 686. Honestly, this 586- is the nicest revolver I have ever shot. I think the -86 series of wheelies are near perfection in both function and caliber.

I picked up a 4" 686 no dash w/target grips about 3 years ago, traded a Savage 308 (had $375 in it) and $125 cash for it. Thought I got the better end of the deal then. Without a doubt today, I know I got the better deal. Mine has been carried a lot, shot some and also has the M. Love the 4" L frame.

Best gun I have ever owned is my 686-1 (also M stamp for modified to dash-2 with different hammer/bushing) The 4¨ variant is the most well balanced handgun ever made IMO. You found a true treasure, and I assure you that gun will shoot like a dream even with the hottest 357 loads. I have nearly 3,000 rounds through mine and it handles everything I put through it with no issue. Most reliable and accurate handgun I have shot by a country mile.

I thought your 586 was another 686, then it occurred to me they made them in a Nickel finish as well. Heck of a pair!

Agreed 100%, the balance and the caliber is a fantastic combo. I don't shoot .38's from my .357's, they aren't any cheaper and heck, that's what my .38's are for. The .357 magnum is the perfect handgun round.

I couldn't agree more on that 😁 for me it's not even about the annoying carbon rings from 38 as much as the fact that these guns are meant for the 357 magnum. It feels like blasphemy to put 38 through a 686 😂

My 586 no dash is from 1983. No M stamp. Yes they feel great in your hands and look good too! Have a 686-6 Pro Series, 7 shot 5" barrel. {one of my favorites} Bob

I agree with all of the above. My 686-4 is one of my all time favorite revolvers. I bought a 6” back in 1987 but my brother ended up with it in the early ‘90s. I do prefer my 4” to the 6” barrel length.

It came with factory rubber but I much prefer these round to square conversion targets.
