I actually had seen this particular revolver on Gunbroker perhaps 4 or 5 years ago, and thought about picking it up.

Instead, one of my customers bought it, and had it transferred through the gunshop where I used to work. A few weeks ago he decided the novelty wasn’t enough to hold onto it, so it became mine.

It is a 33-1, but stamped Model 36 inside the yoke. Not terribly unusual, but just enough out of the norm that it is pleasing. Not sure how/why this mismarking came about, but there you have it.

It has a true 33 cylinder, shorter than a 36 of course, and the expected 4” barrel, along with square butt grips. The barrel is marked .38 S&W CTG

Hmm, I must be doing something wrong, no photo?

Somebody at S&W was having a bad day stamping numbers or a Model 36 frame was accidentally directed to Model 33 production, those would be my guesses.

Alternatively, they needed to make a Model 33-1 and the only frames on hand had already been stamped for the Model 36.

I have a Model 25-5 that was built with a Model 25-2 frame. I am considering rebuilding it back to a Model 25-2.
