Picked up a S&W Model 617 yesterday...

Looking for suggestions on what type of Scope I should put on this gun. It is the 6 inch barrel model.

I have never shopped for a Handgun Scope before (or any scope therefore), so I was looking for some suggestions. I have about $300.00 to spend.

My suggestion would be to buy a used Leupold on Ebay. I recently bought a like-new 2x pistol scope on Ebay for less than 2/3 the price of a new one at discount. It didn't even have ring marks. You have Leupold's lifetime warranty if you should ever need it.

Which mount will you be using? and how will you be using the scope, plinking, varmints, range, fields, woods, squirrels? A 2-1/2 power scope is fantastic if this is for still hunting while a 2 MOA is better for hunting on the move.

It's a Weaver 4x designed for handguns. Also comes in 2x, silver color optional on either. Be sure to get one made for handguns, because the eye relief distance is different.

About any handgun scope will work fine with the 22, but if you may want to use it later for a magnum I think Burris makes the best Handgun scope on the market.
