Picked up New 2014 Model 66

Beautiful gun, i carried one when i worked for SC wildlife and marine resources......would love to have that one back.

I'd love to see how the new 66 compares to my 66-6. I've really enjoyed this gun!

Tried to post a pic, but apparently don't know how. It's not an internet pic. Hm.

Well they are out and they are sweet. I did my Saturday morning pop in to my local dealer and there it was sitting in the case. I had to lay out the cash and buy it.
The trigger is a classic K frame smooth. The cylinder edges are beveled, the black trigger, hammer and cylinder latch are nicely contrasting with the bead blast stainless finish. It balances great and the barrel is on straight as an arrow.
I will shoot it tomorrow and report.
Does anyone want pics??

No. Though I suspect I'm too late...

Wow, tough crowd, SLR pics of every component!

I'm strapped with foundation repairs needed, but something may be going on the block to fund one of these.

I regard the 2-piece barrel and ball-detent as improvements that will make everything more ridged.

Now, if we could just get a switch-barrel, ala Dan Wesson:-) The BC gap would be a non-issue since we could set it ourselves.

model 66-8 hard trigger pull

Just bought one and have not fired it. Model 66-8 with the stiffest trigger pull on any revolver I own. I own several and two new, 642-2, 686plus and the triggers are smooth. This 66-8 dry firing with snap caps is tough.

Does anyone know whether this will smooth out. I'm having trouble staging the trigger. I use stock triggers but this one is not typical..

I used some CLP but it didn't help much. Crossing my fingers that this will smooth but if it doesn't I'll need a trigger job.

Anyone suggest a good smith in Illinois near Chicago..?

Here's a pic of my freshly Ren Waxed 586 to hold us over until the OP posts his new M66.

I bought the new 66-8 and the trigger is not as smooth as my other revolvers. I have a 686 plus, 640, 642, K-15-3 and the 66-8 above. The trigger is much harder and grittier than the others on the 66-8. I hesitate to have Wolf or Wilson springs installed because I don't know a gun smith in the Chicago area. I would send it to S&W but don't want a match trigger. I want it smooth like my others. Help please with advice.

My greatest concern would be the .01" barrel cylinder gap.

Yes Sir. That is the biggest problem with current S&W and Ruger products. Last week, I fondled a brand new Single 7 .327 and a LCR 9mm at the LGS- Both had way too large gaps for my taste, probably exceeding .012". Beautiful and practical guns, but unpurchasable by me for that reason alone.
