I'm picking up my first MP handgun tomorrow (MP 9c no thumb safety). Pretty pumped about it. This gun is more or less just a gun to satisfy my itch for a new toy. I come from shooting only glock handguns.

I believe I will do the following:

1. Cerakoted OD green
2. Night sights
3. Trigger job (I need my glock reset) recommend me one that's easy to put in?
4. Do they make a laser that's inside not on the grip?
5. Extended mags
6. Shoot the pi** out of it.

Someday I might look into putting a Trijicon RMR on it, I have a strange interest in them.

1. Eh, if you want to.. I like black.
2. I like my factory night sites, did you consider them?
3. The new reset is a notable improvement on the old. With that said, do you honestly ever base your follow-up shots on that click? I too played into all that hype for a long time, but then really worked at paying attention to what I was doing/feeling during high stress drills, tactile reset was not noticed.
4. You could get one of the laser/light combos that mount to the rail, but I think many are pretty happy with the crimson trace grip insert.
5. Sure
6. Absolutely!

Didn't consider the night sights, not sure if this one has them or not.

I'll evaluate the trigger once I shoot it.

I don't want anything on the rail, I've never really been a laser guy but for this guns eventual purpose I think it might be handy.

Can this gun be ankle carried? Or is size an issue

What holsters is everyone using for IWB (I carry appendix style), OWB, and ankle?

I have both A M&P 9c and 40c. I just shooting them as they are. I like them over the Golcks.

Anyone mounted an RMR on their compact model MP?

Shoot it a bunch before you sink money into trigger job. SW updated the trigger bar and slide lock which improves the reset. You may like it enough. If not, check out APEX (plenty of threads here).

Honestly, I'm OK with my FS and Compact's whimpy reset. It's nothing compared to my PPQ, P320 or VP9. But then I don't shoot to reset. However, I'll admit, it does seem to be missing when I go to the range.

"Extended" mags are just the FS ones. Check out the XGrips. They fill the gap and fit very nicely.

I love my Glocks and M&P's....thinking about the 9mm VTAC or the 9C....M&P's feel good in the hand....me thinks glock and smith are the best affordable handguns in the market today...Sigs and H&K make fine weapons too! Just a little bit too pricey....

I carry my 9c IWB appendix style with a N82 Pro holster. Love, love, love this holster. Super comfortable, positive seating of the gun, very good retention (I tested this one day when I tripped and fell down on an abnormally high stoop step. I tripped, banged my shin, and then fell gun side down against the storm door which was open. The gun was snug and a bug in the holster). It does not have anything to poke you. You do not need to wear an undershirt under your holster. The back of the holster is made up of three parts, suede (against your skin), neoprene in the middle (cushions and is water/sweat proof) and then leather against the gun. Look them up!

Not sure about ankle.. I have a friend who developed some back issues from ankle carrying a baby glock, so I never tried.

I bought a kydex MIN from evnash on these forums. It's an OWB holster but it really pulls the gun tight into my body. Tight enough that it's very, VERY close to IWB carry (in terms of how close to the body it is) and it's what I use all the time now.

I've been using an appalachianconcealment.com appendix holster for about a week after spending a few months with a DeSantis sof-tuk for AIWB. the appalachian concealment rig is first-rate and very very comfortable. and they're currently on sale. and it shipped within 48 hours.

I've heard nothing but good things about those holsters, but for AIWB I just don't see how having all that extra material below the barrel is a good idea FOR ME. I wouldn't mind one of those rigs for behind the hip carry, but I need a more minimalist set up for front-side carry. Also, in my own experimentation with AIWB I've found that FOR ME a certain amount of 'float' necessary as I move about through the day. Seems like the N82 would tend to stay put. One thing is for sure though, we are all built differently and there is no one size fits all solution. Beware of those stating otherwise.

This is the holster I use for my G19 with a TLR1. I carry it AIWB daily and drive a lot with no issues. It's not meant for appendix but sure works well

You're on dangerous ground here.
I bought my 40c to satisfy an itch. Then came the 9c, then the 45c.
Its a slippery slope, but a fun one.

Haha, I think a full size 45 could be on my short list dependent upon how much I like this compact.
