I understand from reading here that S&W sells a plastic insert piece of some sort to allow the 5906 mags to be used in the 6906 models, and still fit flush. Does someone have a picture of this to share with me? I like the idea very much.

thanks!

Here's my 6904 with a 59 series mag.

With Mec-Gar mags?

Does anyone know if the sleeve will work with Mec-Gar mags?

Bill

The spacers I got from S&W didn't come with baseplates, and thus they will only fit my old 14 rd mags with the metal baseplate, and not my newer ones with the plastic baseplate. And no, they won't work with a MecGar mag. I have them and tried myself. Baseplate issue.

How goofy does the Mecgar mag look in a 6906? Would it be ok for range only? Where can I find the old 5906 mags that will work with the adapter?

The Plus2 adaptor should come with a flat plastic basepad to work with any 5900 series mags. If you got them from S&W you should call and ask where they're at. S&W did offer the 4013/53TSW mags with the adaptor aready on at one time, but I don't think they did the same for the 6900 series guns.

Nb:

CDNN generally has 5906 mags in stock, both new and used. I've both both in the past and both the new, and used ones have been just fine.

The photo below shows the standard 6906 12rd. mag (the 12th round hole is visible on the opposite side of the mag as shown), and the the 5906 15rd. mag.

I'm still trying to figure out why the S&W adapter is called a "+2" when as used on a 5906 mag in the 6906 you gain three rounds, not two. But I'm from Georgia, what do I know?

Best Wishes,

Jesse

+2 was when they were first released, and the 59 series was a 14 rd magazine. My 5906 came with 3 early 14 rd mags.

any time. New here to the forum, but my first purchased by me firearm was a gently used 439 about 17 years ago. I just recently purchased a 5906 and a 6906. They both have mags that will fit in my tiny KelTec P-11 carry pistol. I figured if I was buying longer mags for my KelTec, I should have pistols that matched ;-)
