We were out window shopping for a pistol for my wife this weekend since she has decided she wants to get her CHL. After reading some of the mistakes that other husbands have made by pushing their wives into a gun that he really wants, I made sure that she made the choice on the gun she wants. She did an internet search and found several articles by women, one of which listed her top 5 choices for concealed carry. This list had the Glock 19 as first choice and Shield as number 4.

I bit my tongue and let her lead the way. After handling several different guns, and asking questions of the gun shop staff, she decided that the Shield was the best feeling gun in her hand. The next step is to try one at the range and if she likes it, that's the gun she wants.

She has decided that whatever gun she gets, she wants to get a pink grip for it. So far I have found Talon grips makes a pink one for the shield. Any feedback from anyone who has used those grips? What other choices are out there?

Do a forum search for 'Talon Grips' and you'll see a page or two full of Talon threads. While I haven't had the need to use them, many here like them, so the only question is which texture to get.

At about $20 each (ballpark price) she could get a pair of each and decide which she likes better. :)

Going through the same process with my loving bride. So far, she keeps coming back to my J Frame Smith Model 60. I want her to try out a 642 Airweight since it's lighter and has the enclosed hammer.

She liked the way the Shield fit in hand but she had some trouble pulling back the slide and didn't like all the "levers and buttons" (her words not mine) on the side.

My 1911 was out on the first hold. How someone could NOT like the way a 1911 feels in the hand, well, it's going to be her gun not mine. She did like the Hi Power but it is too big for her to carry comfortably.

Which brings us back to the J Frame.

I installed the rubberized Talon grips on my Shield recently and was very surprised how big of a difference they made. The pistol feels more secure in your hand, even with the 7 round mag. My wife noticed the difference right away and shot noticeably better than without the grips.

Well it's not a grip but this is what 30 dollars worth of Duracoat and about 30 minutes of your time will get you! Hers and mine...

The Talon grips are awesome, get the rubber ones. Perfect fit, feel and grip at a great price....plus it's not a permanent change if she ever want to take them off.

Talons all the way.

Talon grips are awesome, and the grips I've used on everything. You need to look at their website though, as I believe the pink Talons only come in the granulate material.

Tell your wife, Good Luck, good shooting, and good for her. :D

I just checked. The pink ones only come in the granulate.

I don't want a pink gun. I do, however, have some pink accessories: eye pro with pink trim, a pink camo NRA ball cap I use at the range, and my pink targets. ;) I also find the pink targets easier to see. Friends now call them "Pinkie." ;)

Haha I agree that I think pink is a bit ridiculous BUT nothing will wipe that smile off of your face as fast as mine was the other day when someone was (it sounded like) beating my door down and she had her pink gun out with that big black hole in the end of it almost as fast as I had my full size M&P out. People take you VERY VERY seriously at that point. If she is more inclined to carry it because of the color (and she can outshoot damn near any male I know, my friends in the Armed Forces included) then rock on.
