I have never bought a pistol and had to have it shipped till today. The person i bought it from has never shipped a pistol. So my question is what is the best way to ship? Fedex, UPS? I dont want to get either of us in trouble...

Thanks
Mitch

By the way, if i can get it here it will be my first 5 screw.

I assume the seller is out of state. He has to send it to a local FFL in your state, where you do the standard paperwork. It can be send by him via common carrier-UPS or FedEx.

OR, he can take it to his local FFL and that FFL can use the USPS to send it to your local KY FFL.

Ocassionally, an FFL will refuse to accept a handgun sent from a non-FFL holder. That is up to the local FFL.

I have always found it cheaper to get a FFL to ship by US postal service. UPS and Fed-ex requires overnight shipping.$$$$:)

I am an ffl I have had clients send guns to me regularly by usps. I think you can send usps only to a ffl or to yourself say if you are going hunting and want to ship the guns instead of carry them on a plane. jmho Doeboy

A private individual cannot(legally) ship a handgun via USPS, only long guns.
Best way to ship is find a local dealer and have it shipped to him.

My LGS (FFL) advised me he will accept a handgun sent via the USPO as long as it's either from another FFL or has a copy of the senders valid drivers license (both front and rear). Before doing this, however, I would check with your licensed dealer. And I would always tell him in advance to expect the shipment. Also, I'm talking gun friendly Vermont.
