This morning's paper has the story of a Pit Bull attacking a female jogger. Bit her severly over 30 times. The owner finally dragged the dog off of her and beat it to death with a sledge hammer handle. Had to stand on it's neck to finaly choke the life out of it. Police are unsure if the owner will face animal cruelty charges...Also in the same article, a 1 year old MI boy was mauled to death by a Pit Bull. Owner shot and killed it with a handgun. I gather it was all in the same family.

No kidding! Who would have guessed! Too bad the family can't be beaten to death so they can't ruin anymore dogs. I think we dog owner control.

Pit bull owner should not face cruelty charges,,, He should face attempted murder charges...
He was a good dog turning his life around! ! !
The jogger should not have been jogging there.
I feel bad for the lady,,, She needs some healing and rest now. I feel bad for her,, And then she needs to buy a gun.

I mentioned this on another thread and got no response. I wish some state would have the juevos to pass the following law:

If your dog (notice I didn't say pitbull) kills someone, and it is determined that the victim was doing nothing wrong (breaking into a house, for example), then the dog owner has to stay in prison for as long as the victim remains dead. I keep hearing how pitbulls are no more dangerous than any other breed. So that law should be more than fair.

Something tells me the pitbull population would drop pretty quickly after the first few guys went to prison.

Sounds like a good plan. I don't like to see laws banning any breed of dogs, but with all liability on the owners, perhaps then some of those morons would realize some breeds actually are more dangerous and difficult to control than others.

The pit bull's popularity has been its biggest problem. Years ago, before they became so popular, you rarely heard of a pit bull attacking anyone. The old time breeders (yes, the dogfighters that developed the breed) would not allow a dog that was people aggressive to live. The first sign of aggression toward people and that dog was put down immediately.

Once they became "popular" those individuals that should have been put down were allowed to live and reproduce. We now have more and more accounts of attacks. They're still my favorite breed, but I'm even leery about owning one today, unless I could get one from a long-time breeder that I trust.

Police are unsure if the owner will face animal cruelty charges..

Any jury around here would laugh the DA out of the courtroom with that charge.

second biting offense for a pb. this week here...(same guy bitten) and the dogs were put down the same afternoon.

sad.

I hate Pits. When I see people out in public with them and they tell me my kids can pet them, I always let them know to keep their dog away from me and mine. Some of the Morons are offended. Reading dog bite stats is evidently rocket science.
