Hello everyone,
I have seen the threads about both and they seem pretty mixed. Just wanting to get idea, if you have to get open. Which do you choose based on price and reliability.

Based on the threads here (and I've read them all) the promags get generally good reviews and the Plinkers get generally bad reviews.

I have the Plinker Tactical and it works fine so far. I think the newer PT are more reliable than the earlier ones. Or perhaps they have crappy QC and it just depends on if you get a good one or not. Haven't done a lot with it though. I've got some Promags on order, so I can't speak to those yet.

Promag

I vote promag, I have two and although I haven't been able to use them much I highly recommend them

I vote promag. I have used and reviewed them here on the forum. I give them the thumbs up and so does my son.

I finally made it back to the range two nights ago. I took my original SW 25 round mag, two Plinker Tactical 35 rounders and two brand new Promag 32 rounders. I loaded all magazines earlier that day with American Eagle brand rounds.

When I ordered the two Plinker Tacticals I did not order the load assist tool. After killing my fingers to get 25 rounds in them last time I used them, I tried to find a solution. this time I clipped and used part of a sturdy wire clothes hanger, and was able to load 35 rounds into each.

I went to the range and shot the Original SW mag first with no problems. Then I shot the two brand new Promags with no problems. Both fitted properly, chambered the first round properly, no ftf's, and bolt remained open after last round in each.

Finally I tried the two Plinker Tacticals. I previously had problems with them chambering the first round. I read that I could try loading with the bolt open. This did not work for me. I tried chambering with the bolt closed as well and it took some time to get the first rounds chambered in both Plinker mags. After finally getting the first rounds chambered properly the remaining rounds did fire flawlessly and even held the bolt open after the final rounds. This was for both Plinker mags.

I ran another set of rounds through the SW original mag with no problems at all. I ran two more sets of rounds through each Promag and had no problems with those as well. I didn't bother trying to load the Plinkers again as I felt I could survive without the pain.

Will try the routine again next week.

I have 6 of the plinker tactical a and they work perfectly for me. I had initial problems with the original smith &wesson and the plinker a but I think it was beginner user error. Using the load assist tool on the plinkers would be essential....I do not see how you can load them correctly without it.

I use the plinkers now more than I use the original smith & wessons. I have no load issues.

My opinion, as well.

Plinkers Mag

I had trouble with my 3 plinkers 32rds.When I compared them to the OME I could see the trouble ,the ramp on the Plinkers was to server compared to the OME so I just flaten it down to match the Smith mags ,no more trouble feeding just fine in every situation tried.

Gone through 1,000 rds today in Plinker mags with zero issues.

Junk VS. Trash take your pick, or find some factory OEM mags.
Even if you have to pay a little extra, they are worth every penny!

I have had no problems with the Promag magazines. They actually seem less painful to load than the OEM. They feed nice and I had no problem as far as the bolt staying open when the mag was empty. I would definately purchase again...and plan to order more soon. I have no exerience with the Plinkers, but the reviews in this forum seem to be negative by at least a 4 to 1 margin

To start off with let me say I have not fired either of them so I am going on the fit and finish of the two brands. My first impression of the Plinker is that they have some QC issues with their fit and finish. Even though I pulled it straight from a sealed plastic clamshell package it just did not look crisp and new. The seams were ok but not fantastic. When I pulled the Promag out of the ziplock packaging it just looked and felt solid. The mag did not flex at all and the spring was nice and tight as I worked the load assist button which brings me to a second point. I am going to have to now spend some extra money in order to buy the load assist tool for the Plinker. So now the Plinker has an added expense. Like I said all this is basically **** since I have not fired either magazine so I could very easily find that when I am at the range the Plinker could run flawlessly while the Promag could suck. I am just saying if the fit and finish is any indication of the quality then my vote is Promag.

Well for what its worth I bought 2 pro mag 32 rounders from tactical vantage and they work really well no FTF or FTE and hold the bolt open after last round I haven't used plinker so cannot say anything on those.
