Plus 1 (as in 15 +1)

The value of doing +1 is in the eyes of the person doing it. It is likely of no benefit or deficit to someone else on the forum what I do with mine. No different than a person choosing a revolver, a single stack or a double stack or whether they choose to bring a reload occasionally, always or never or what caliber they will use. It is all a compromise that each individual must make from their own risk/benefit assessment for their situation.

That said, for me it depends on the gun. Some of mine do +1 better than others. Looking at what I have done for the past while, I tend to follow that if it has 8 rounds or less, I will most likely go through the steps and +1 it if has not proved finicky doing so when I have tested at the range. Once I'm at 9 rounds and beyond I tend to skip doing it.

How about the value of having one more round if it's ever needed? For my Shield, that's a 14% increase.
Like I said, if you want to, I don't think it's a detriment. Look, I'm not attacking anyone or saying you won't ever need it. No one ever came out of a fight wishing they had less ammo. I just don't see the value. You may have a different opinion.

I do not.

Sort of. My Glock magazines are downloaded one round from capacity but I do keep one in the chamber. So my Glock 23 could technically hold 13+1 and 13 in the spares, but I load 12+1 and 12 in the spares. Insertion on a closed slide is much easier (and that last round can be a chore to load anyway.) I've heard anecdotal evidence that it might be slightly better in the long run for reliability to keep the spring less than fully-completely compressed.
Pretty much completely agree with this for large-capacity mags. Exception might be for mags which can almost accept another round over rated capacity - if the last one is easy to load, I will usually do it. And I always load a 7-round mag fully.

You guys having trouble getting that last round into a magazine need to buy an UPLULA, best magazine loader out there.

Once my pistol is loaded/chambered, I don't empty the chamber until I want to dry fire or I go to the range. My MP9c stays at my bedside at night and on my hip in the day always with 12+1 and a 17round FS magazine as a backup.

Yes. That One last round can be the difference between life and death. Lets say you have a home invasion.

You start exchanging gunfire. Let me tell you 15 rounds dont last long. I carried 15 in my M9 in Afghanistan. That 15 rounds will be gone in 4 seconds when your life depends on it.

anyway you start exchanging gunfire. you finally bring up your sights, right center mass and pull the trigger and "click".........oh look.........you're dead. Wish ya had that extra bullet eh?

I load my weapons to their fullest capacity, because that one round can save your life. I cant tell ya how many guys I served with that took down the insurgent with the last round in their mag :-D
